A total of 48 Pasco County schools received 2009-10 recognition as Five Star Schools. The annual award is granted by the Florida Department of Education and is given to schools based on their community and parental involvement. Schools must have at least a "C" grade to qualify.

The following Land O' Lakes area schools received recognition this year: Oakstead Elementary, Charles S. Rushe Middle School, Pine View Elementary, Pine View Middle and Sanders Memorial.
