Biden vs. Ryan: Who Won the VP Debate?
Do you think Vice President Joe Biden or Congressman Paul Ryan came out on top in Thursday night's debate? We want to hear from you.
The political pundits, pollsters and bloggers are sure to be debating today who won Thursday night's vice presidential debate.
Did Joe Biden's performance provide a bump for President Barack Obama's re-election bid? Or did Congressman Paul Ryan help Gov. Mitt Romney gain momentum?
Websites and water coolers will be abuzz all over the country, but we really want to find out what people in Patch towns here in Tampa Bay think. We're in one of the most hotly contested areas this election season, after all, and it's also interesting to just hear what your neighbors have to say.
Which VP candidate do you think won the debate? Did anything said by either of them really resonate with you? Let us know what you think in the comments section.

I was extremely dissapointed with Bidens performance, not only was it disrespectful to his Boss, but to Ryan and the American public. I think Ryan won due to his respectful responses and his ability to show that his being second in line does not cause people to worry as they did with Palin in the last election. This was a professional, intelligent, informed person, even though Bidens replies were equally so, his body language, continuous interupting, and disrespect lost it by a landslide. If were Obama I would have called him out following the performance.

I think anyone watching the debate with an open mind without any preconceptions will have to agree Joe threw out his fair share of mostly false statements as Ryan threw out his share. I think they were tied on content, but Joe’s lack of respect and decorum lost him the debate by landslide.

What got me was Biden's comments on abortion (infanticide) from a "Catholic" viewpoint. He's against(?) it but FOR the woman's "right to choose/decide" whether or not to MURDER a completely defenseless fetus for the sake of convenience.
BUT, when it comes to EVERY AMERICANS' healthcare THEY/WE will have absolutely NO CHOICE in the matter under Obamacare.

I think the take away from the VP debate is as follows: Interpretation of who was the winner or loser is being sharply determined by party affiliation and candidate commitment. Polls show that less than 4% of voters are undecided at this point in time, so the debates are simply yet another way for the two parties to continue to split this country in half with divisive polls, news clips, and article such as this. For us to continue to fall prey to these tactics (and these tactics are in no way any different between the two parties) is a massive shame on us. Our forefathers warned that a political system eroding to a two party system would produce exactly the results we are experiencing. If we are truly enlightened arm chair political pundits then perhaps we should rise to the occasion and kick them both to the curb and put our votes where our beliefs supposedly reside. Nice to think, but I suspect too many enjoy the rabid attacks on one another as opposed to open and intelligent conversation.

I wondered why Ryan didn't address Biden's obvious attempt to distract viewers with his "Joker" grin and constant interruptions. Biden's mouthful of teeth was indeed distracting and demonstrated his contempt for the whole debate scenario. Does this translate into contempt for voters who want candidates to be a little more serious when given the state of our economy and the dismal future that lies ahead? Probably so. Both candidates hurled their share of "facts" that, when closely examined, might not hold up to the truth. I expected a lot more and am glad this is the final VP debate! The debate was the loser!

People are concerned because Biden was smarky and grinning after listening to the lies of Romney and Ryan for an entire year? How about being upset because they want to privatize Social Social and get rid of Medicare? How about being upset because Ryan constantly talks about the stimulus but then requested it privately in an email to Biden? How about being upset because we are a couple weeks from elections and Ryan or Romney still will not give details as to what they want to cut? How about them wanting to take a womans right to chose what she does with her own body?
Ryan was clueless on Afghanistan. Had no idea our troops were being replaced with Alghanistan military and would not even commit to a withdrawl in 2014. So be upset over someone grinning but not someone that's been lying to you for a year?

No. Micahel Fuchs, tactics like that in a court of law will get you a warning from a judge...and it won't be much of a warning....and if it goes on...the judge will have the balif remove the person. It also depends a lot of the judge on how much they will tolerate. I don't think Judge Judy or Judge Alex would like Biden very much...lol. Judges have people removed from court very often for doing just what Biden did. You don't know what you are talking about. Rettino...it's not unusual for Presidents and their VP's to have conflcts as you described. It is well known tha Biden and Obama have trouble keeping their differences from being too noticeable. I personally don't think here was a perfectly clear winner...and that fact ''may'' give the edge by a very slight margin to Biden. For Ryan, that is still good news. To have been a ''soild'' win, win ,win for the GOP, Ryan would have had to leave little question on who won. He did not do that, but holding his own and keeping it close was probably his minimum goal. I think many don't like the lame, cheap-shot ''distracting tactic'' Biden went for and think it was not very respectful of how important this elelction is. Most of us would have liked to see them both be more intellectual in thier replies. Biden seemed immature , under the circumstances. If you remember the regan era we had a massive military, ships in the Mediterranean ang gulf yet planes were still hijacked, the World Trade Center bombed multiple times despite the huge military. No Tom. All Biden did was school Ryan on what it looks like when an older man who should know better demonstrates the same level of control as one of his grandchildren. I was embarrassed for Biden. His behaviour was unprofessional. In the way our behaviour could reflect the way things should be done one might say both VP candidates did their fair share of schooling the other. The question is whether we can afford to have someone so clearly lacking in control of their emotions so close to what is arguably one of the most powerful positions in the world. Who was he mugging for, and why are people like you so blinded by ideology incapable of holding the candidate that shares your ideology to the behaviour you require of your ideological opponents?
Of all the things that frighten me about the American mindset this has to be at the top of the list. Such people exert electoral control and as such are responsible for my quality of life.
Thus the large number of comments seen last night and a few on this thread from former Obama voters offended by Biden's debate performance remind me that I am not alone as a mature adult and my insistence that my leaders, especially those of sufficiently advanced age they are seen as political role models, exemplify that quality at least or more than do I. Ryan was pathetic. Didn't know the facts, didn't understand some of the questions, disagreed with Biden just to agree with the policy right after, the moderator CRUSHED Ryan and didn't go for his BS. Biden was obviously shocked with all the BS coming out of his mouth. Ryan was rehearsed and everything coming out of his mouth sounded like a political add.

Upperhoovednaym

The purpose of the moderator is to moderate. Not crush. That in itself is stepping out of the mode of objectivity required of a moderator.
Koolaid Liberals seem impervious to misbehaviour when it comes to those sharing their ideology. If the moderator had done something similar, having a clear inability to be impartial due to a personal relationship with Ryan, you and those like you would be up in arms, spelling, grammatical and syntax errors even worse than usual.
Political support and team support are not synonymous. It is vital we realise that team loyalty is fine when it has no affect on anyone's personal life. Whatever NFL team wins or loses it won't affect your employment status, your health care or insurance coverage, whether your son or daughter perishes in a war theatre. We all need to be very careful to check our biases when preparing to vote.
Sadly, few Liberals will do so. They are too busy munching down popcorn, hot dogs and giant sized cokes, screaming at the screen with a team loyalty that is more appropriate to a NFL game. They don't much care if I spend the NEXT four years without a job, health care or if I can even afford to put my kids on my health care due to the stratospheric increase in insurance costs. Who cares if I can keep them on a year longer? I can't even afford to add my spouse, let alone any kids.
P.S. Ad = advertisement
Add = to increase, to put together numerically.

Biden is a well seasoned politician always know how to spin things. Ryan stayed calm and well collected. Biden used debate tactics of blurring your opponents line, by constant interruptions. Bottom line is our country is in trouble if we do not make any changes , the fact is we have higher unemployment and our economy is down.

Your right, Kristina. I will be poorer, because Obama will probably win. I was not sure about Romney, but he does have one thing I think Obama lacks as a leader. That is United We Stand Divided We Fall. At least Romney listens to both sides. Instead of wasting your time thinking about him being on a yacht, look in to his record. And I dont care if hes rich. So is Obama they both WORKED! to become Rich. Just like you can work to become rich. Also, I dont think any President gos into office thinking how can I make more of a mess of things I believe Obama did have our best intrest at hand, however he is not the only one running the country. Your fact is an opinion. The mess started in the 1970's and early 1980's. Then helped grown by both parties through out the last 3 decades. Please get your "facts" straight. That is as bad as people who blame the internet economic bubble on Bush. Both parties at fault, please refrain from revisionist history to "support" your party. Try supporting your country instead.

I feel your pain Stephanie. I lost my job of 8 years 1 year into the Obama presidency. Since then I have been doing the UI, new job, wait for health insurance to kick in, sicken without rx and medical support, lose job, wait for UI, new job, wait for health insur. to kick in, sicken w/o rx dance for 3 years with 5 jobs. My spouse and I have seen an income drop of 60% during the Obama presidency, and due to a chronic lack of health insurance/medical care and all of the attendant stress my spouse had a heart attack and is now unable to work altogether. What good are all of these Obama promises if you can't count on employment?
Don't listen to people like Katrina here. She is more than happy to engage in class warfare from her ivory tower. Only people who have suffered in this economy care more about what a President will do to improve their lives than what religion they practice, who their friends are, where they party and what's in their bank account. I'm looking to see my life improve, and personal attacks are transparent and childish. The Ivory Tower set laugh, smirk, display contempt and make faces about subjects close to our hearts and that can make or break our lives. It is so obvious to me who is in an Ivory Tower (ie. unaffected by the last four years of economic disaster) and who is not. I.T. types make personal attacks while the rest of us are weighing our options very carefully, as a vote cast for the wrong candidate actually affects us.

Obama and groom Julius Genachowski, whom Obama would later tap to head the Federal Communications Commission, were Harvard Law School classmates at the time and members of the Harvard Law Review.
After TheDC made preliminary inquiries Monday to confirm Obama’s attendance at the wedding, ABC leaked a pre-emptive statement to news outlets including Politico and The Daily Beast Tuesday, revealing what may have been internal network pressure felt just days before Raddatz was scheduled to moderate the one and only vice-presidential debate Thursday night.

As for the rest of you thinking Biden whooped Ryan, use logic which I realize is easier said than done, compared to Biden, Ryan was very respectful even during numerous times Biden unfairly interrupted Ryan, he said nothing to him which clearly shows strong character & professionalism something Biden seriously lacks!

I think it is a joke to call these a ''debate''. I'd like to see them done the same way they are done in a debate class, such as you took as early as Junior High School...and then ''graded'', just as they would be graded in debate class. After that...''then'' hand it over to the TV staions and other news venues, etc to do as they wish discussing the results. The dirty tactics of interupting, the distracting laughing while the other is speaking, etc...are childish and are simply cheating. The moderators should have a better way given to them to enforce rules. Perhaps have the canidates in soundproof booths where the moderators can simply ''turn thier booth off'' if the moderator wants to at his discretion? To make it even more fair..have 2 moderators instead of just one...one from each of the canidates party. How is it supposed to seem fair that Biden attended the wedding of the moderator recently? I take these debates serious and look forward to them being on. When I see how the Biden/Ryan one went, it dissappoints me they are not done with more honor. The Obama/Romney was done much more maturely. I think Ryan did good to not stoop to Biden's level of mockery of the debate. The moderator was polite to Ryan, but should have intervened against Biden much more. Ryan did a more respectable job of listening when Biden was talking. Biden throws up a smokescreen of hot air from his mouth, and it is easy to see through it as simply a dirty trick. It avoids having to make sense.

That will work, then one side will claim the other side had the moderator in their pocket, because let's face it. Those of us who have done their homework or have been had the shepard use his staff to bring together the fluck, oops flock, will not change our minds no matter who wins the debate. Our minds only allow us to hear when our minds are open. For many of us the votes are already in. Hopefully, the one who truely sit on the fence will be able to know that a smile is not rude (smile and the world smiles with you, frown and you are alone) Joe Biden looked at the audience and clearly said you American are intelligent enough to get the facts for yourself and act accordingly, while Ryan could only barb Biden with "it would be better if we did not argue". Folks a debate is an educated and civil argument. If smiling is rude or arragant the US has lost its most valuable asset, its sense of humor. When you loose your sense of humor, then you have lost everything. A good sense of humor can make even the darkest hour more bearable and lift the spirits to a point of hope. Kudos Joe, Kudos Obama.

Did any of you see Ryan's face after he complained about the "stimulus" money and then Biden reminded him that he asked not once but twice for a cut of the money? Biden won this debate and he showed how corupt the other side is.
Upperhoovednaym
1:57 pm on Friday, October 12, 2012
What's wrong is spending stimulus money that did nobody any good except for campaign contributor's and special interest groups.
Rather than appearing to have a double standard Ryan appears to have cared about the residents of his home state by attempting to legitimately get some money for them before all of it disappeared into "green jobs" in other countries. His complaint about the stimulus was that far too little of it actually went to infrastructure spending which was the point, after all. Stimulating the economy, that is.
I don't see how that reflects poorly on Ryan at all. In fact I think Biden handed Ryan a bullseye, which neither of them, in the heat of the moment, realised at the time. Not that I believe for one second that Biden has any intention of doing a post mortem on his debate performance...

Good comment, Bill. I think it is also worth noting that I don't think it was quite what the people who elected Obama wanted when Obama promised to get out of Iraq. I think they thought he was going to be bring all the troops home. They were basically just moved from Iraq to Kuwait...which basically defended the GOP's posotion that us being over there is necessary. I guess the city planner got schooled a bit more on the terrible threat of terroism and how real it is. Bush and McCain were right about all that. Not to mention the the way the Afgan situation escalated. This ''also'' was not what the Dems said they would do. Ironically, what they have done is a watered down version of what the GOP would have done if McCain had won. The half-hearted way Obama is guidling the fighting over there is costing us more lives than it should be. Biden's asssement of Iran's preent threat was not very reassuring. If was like saying the the ex cons formerly locked up for murder, that moved in next door, who now have guns but are not allowed to have guns...will not be a threat until they have more of them.

For a President, a good VP choice often is someone who is not a threat to taking thier job the next elelction. Obama proved this by picking Biden....and if Romey wins, I don't think Ryan is a threat to ever become Presdient, either. Watching Biden and Ryan go at it was painful. This was not that good of a good debate for either of them. With Romney a cleat winner in the first debate, and Ryan and Biden arguably even in this one...that still leaves the GOP doing the best so far. Biden needed to leave no doubt who won. It is clear from the comments here that he did not do that. In fact, it seems to be most people favor Ryan. I expect Obama to try the identicle tactic on Romeny the next debate...but Romney can handle himself much, much better than Ryan. I'd say Obama has reason to be worried. Romney seems very sincere and has the appearance of a strong leader. Obama needs to go back to planning how many swings to install at city parks. He could be compared to the local St Pete politicians who want to tear down The Pier and take The Rays out of Tropicana. He is good at doing what he wants to do, but bad at doing what the people need.

What Biden thought was funny was the same thing I found hysterical .... Ryan trying to present fiction as fact, and how much the republican platform changes, depending on who the audience is.
Isn't it amazing how republicans react to rude treatment? ... It's nice to turn the tables on them for a change. They dish rude out as a steady diet. Stamp their feet and hold good legislation up merely to further their weak agendas ... they did it with the debt ceiling (which usually gets raised at least yearly over past decades) and now holding tax relief for the middle class hostage to save millionaires from INCREMENTAL tax increases on just the next dollars that they earn, above and beyond the masses. If that isn't rude behavior,... I don't know what is.
Can't wait to watch the next debate, and the fact checking.

As I sit here with no income to pay taxes on, I still pray that the high income tax brackets are not taxed one cent more, because I know those business owners, able to save on taxes, will spend more on business growth and job creation leading to my eventual success. I have no Obama phone, I don't receive welfare or help from the government in any way shape or form, and I am damn proud of that. I know when I find a new career or start a small business, that it will be hard work that gets me ahead, not luck, not government assistance, just hard work. Spin all you want, Joe Biden Won the debate. I'm a Republican and know that! I was glad Ryan did not back away from his long held beliefs even though I completely disagree with him on every single point he made. It was refreshing to see him stick to it instead of run from it. Unfortunately Mr Romney is not half the man Mr Ryan is. Even though I would never vote for Mr Ryan, when a person spends a lifetime carving out a picture of themselves they should stick by it and not lie about. Having a few facts wrong is one thing, constantly telling lie after lie and using anyone anything anywhere anyhow in order to win is not the American way. This debate showed why the Obama administration and the split Congress have been a complete failure at solving the serious problems that our country faces. There was only one "Adult" at that debate, and it wasn't the one who was smiling, laughing, smirking, making faces and otherwise being dismissive. Joe Biden didn't listen to anything Ryan said. He wasn't interested in real conversation or in a true exchange of ideas. He came to put on a show, to distract and to demagogue, not to debate. That he did flawlessly. But I didn't actually hear anything about how the Obama ticket will do anything other than what they've done for the last three and one half years, and that hasn't worked out well at all. At least the Romney/Ryan ticket is putting some alternative ideas out. As for being "specific" about every detail, they are clear that they will work with members of Congress from BOTH parties to arrive at consensus based on principles; that's how a democracy is supposed to work! Unfortunately, the current president hasn't been interested in that so far, and based on last night's Biden performance, isn't interested in doing that up to now, nor apparently in the future. Therefore, real "Hope and Change" and real "Forward" momentum are given to the challenger's ticket: Romney/Ryan. As a country, we can not afford, literally or figuratively, another four years of the status quo. After the first debate, what last night showed me was, "It's time to go, Joe."

I agree it is time for Joe to go, he lost miserably and smirked like the little boy that just ate BIG Bird. You Robme people only want to see what you want to see, which is looking through rose colored glasses. Problem is the world is not rose colored it is black and white. Two months ago Romney/Ryan was saying they would change the law regarding womens rights and defund family planning. Last night Paul flipped and flopped just like Robme has done over the course of his campaign. The reason Biden smiled was because it was all he could do to keep from laughing at the outrageous childish allegations and uneducated statements Ryan was making. Ryan reads a book and, bingo, is an expert on foreign affairs and knows what the Generals want; while Biden has sat in the war room and heard what they want. It is like the student trying to teach the professors class without an education and looking pleased with himself because he THINKS he has out smarted the professor and all he was doing was showing his lack of education and maturity, just those of you here that post such "malarkey"! Carol, Biden's age and education should have been enough to win that debate. Clearly Biden felt that those two advantages were not sufficient, and seemingly lacking any respect for audiences filled with both Democrats and Republicans he behaved as if he had a lot to lose by acting like a statesman. That worries me. Why did he not consider his age and experience sufficient to win the debate? If he truly won on substantive issues do you really think none of us would have noticed it without all of the facial grimaces, smirks and smiles while Ryan was speaking?
I am still an undecided voter. I was looking for serious evidence of the superiority of one candidate's plan or another. Biden's behaviour was distracting and indicated a complete lack of confidence in ME to understand his positions and listen to them with educated ears. He clearly believed that we needed the Sesame Street version of presidential behaviour. It didn't work for me. Even though logic told me he was by far the more experienced VP candidate it truly brought his credibility into question that he felt the need to go beyond the spoken word when it was his turn to speak. In my world when someone acts like that they are not sincere and are trying to hide something. Otherwise there would be no need to distract. That is a truly impartial opinion from an undecided voter.

Anyone who thinks Joe Biden won anything is delusional and probably already a cheerleader for Team Obama anyway.
Joe has two public personae:
1) Harmless charming idiot
2) Churlish douchenozzle
The public had been getting a steady diet of the former for the last 4 years. Last night they got a good long look at the latter, and polling suggests they didn't much like it.
Spin it however makes you feel warm and fuzzy, O-bots. Once it was over, last night was a net loss for you. Not as disastrous as last week, but a loss nonetheless.

I saw Obama on TV before the debate saying what Biden needed to do was ''be Joe Biden''. I think the ''Churlish Douchenozzel'' you came up with fully describes him...even when he is being the ''harmless charming idiot'' as well. Unfortuantely(for the Dems)...or fortunately(for the GOP)...depending on how you look at it....I can see Obama possibly trying the same tactic the next debate with Romeny. Obama is a lot like one of those douchenozzles also. It would be just like Obama to hear all this criticism about Biden's style he used and read about how many were turned off by it...and then use the same tactic precisely because of that fact. Obama and Biden share the quality of enjoying being offensive and pompous. It's hard to beleive Obama was formerly a city planner...he seems more like a drama queen.

Yes, I have made an observation, as I have looked around. The few houses that have the Robme/Ryan signs in their yards show how many supporters the two Rs have. When you compare this to the number of those who do not have signs in their yard tells the real story, they plan to vote for Obama and do not want to fear reprisal. Here is an Letter to the Editor from the Delta County Independent in Colorado to prove the point: See next posting.

Cowardly tactics won’t dissuade staunch Democrat
Written by Robert Laitres

Dear Editor:
Delta County appears to abound with those who consider themselves constitutional experts and especially the "freedom of speech" clause. However, when comes the time to actually practice it themselves, that appears to be defined to mean, "Yes. I can speak and you should listen, but you should remain quiet, as I have spoken."
That is the height of hypocrisy for those who are in need of being reminded of what the word means; i.e., preaching something you yourself do not practice.
This year I decided to put Obama signs on both sides of my pickup. That is despite the "warning" that those would be defaced, destroyed or removed.
Sure enough, at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Oct. 3, on 3rd Avenue between Main and Meeker in the friendly City of Delta, some highly enlightened, and undoutedly "patriotic" individual, did exactly that. We should all be proud of such individuals as they are certainly a credit to this community and believe in the United States Constitution and all of its provisions (and can probably quote parts of it verbatim).
You will excuse some of us if we do not share in admiring them. As, in addition to their being criminals (criminal mischief), we consider such individuals emotionally and intellectually immature.

Not too far above them on the evolutionary scale are those who either smiled or smirked when looking at those defaced signs. Those were not children or adolescents, but those of middle age and even seniors. They must have gone to school at some point, but quite obviously missed those parts of their "education" that might have been of greatest value in helping them grow up.
My first reaction, and what I had planned to do, was to replace those signs. However, thinking upon the matter further and recalling the saying that "When you have a lemon, you make lemonade," I have decided to leave those signs exactly as they are. The people of the community should therefore become accustomed to seeing them.
Their condition may serve to remind us that some in this community are not as mature, tolerant, open minded or patriotic as they claim to be. At the same time, they may be much more hypocritical than they believe they are. That may be a much more valuable lesson to teach and learn.
I am a Democrat and I support President Obama. Others support other candidates. That is their choice.
While I don't know who vandalized those signs (not that I particularly care who the miscreant was), defacing or destroying some defenseless object, or approving of it, is really a sign of someone who is either unable or unwilling to defend his/her own beliefs. Such individuals some of us consider no more than cowards.

With all due respect, does it matter who really won the debate? I am disheartened by the division of the people these two parties are fostering. You can love your neighbor for three-and-a-half years, but come election time, you’re instant enemies? When all is said and done, it’s still a ping-pong match between the Republicans and Democrats, be it four years or eight, and the people are the ball. Until we, the people, can rise above our differences, we will have a government that cares only about itself.

So based on your assumption the president is the only one who is fighting dirty? Both parties are fighting dirty and came out with the gloves off. Do you think those "foundations" are not being funding by the political parties? You notice both parties like to say the other party started it. Because Obama started his campaign before Romney? The "Birthers" and other foundations didn't already have their commericals out before a Republican candidate was choosen? I think you might have your timeline a little distorted. It's ok, I understand you want to support your candidate. And like both candidates you don't want the facts get in the way of a good story.

Joe Biden crushed Ryan in this debate just like he did to Sarah Palin four years ago. All of Ryans answers were practiced Republican lies about Pres. Obama's record. Biden showed Ryan as the liar that he is on issues like the extremely pro-wealthy, anti-middle class Ryan budget, the disasterous Medicare vouchers that he proposes, and the lack of abortion and family planning rights for women.

Just an observation. I read and participate in my share of Huffington Press related blogs, which ''The Patch'' is run by. It's hard to avoid them. They (HP) seem to be the main ones around. That's partly because liberal ownership dominates the media. Anyone who knows HP, knows it leans very, very liberal...and ''it's'' moderators will ''often'' censor the comments of conservatives. It can be frustrating. Even though ''The Patch'' is part of HP, it's liberal/conservative balance usually matches the area that particular ''Patch'' is from. This one, being from Pinellas Country or simply ''Florida'' normally leans a bit more in favor of liberals. I am new here from Kansas...but this has been my observation. Maybe I am too new to know much about here yet. I agree that may be true. That said: At first I thought Ryan was not a slam dunk, but would have been if Biden's dirty ''distracting tactic'' had not worked rather well. There is no doubt, that Biden's cheating did take Ryan's game down a notch. Despite Biden's tactics, Ryan was at least solidly ''even'' in this debate...and that is good enough. As I said, at first I did not feel Ryan definitely won...but considering how liberal the local Patch blogs are ...the comments here without a doubt...''strongly'' favor Ryan. I think that says a lot...and if the next Obama/Romeny debate goes like the first one...even if ''it's'' a tie...then Obama has a lot to worry about. It seems he already does. Good job so far, Romney and Ryan.

CJ,
Unfortunitely when you mention the presidental debate, i think Romney set himself up for failure in the second debate due to the first one. In the first debate the challenger is usually the winner due to a lower bar is set. Now the bar is set extremely high for Romney, where the bar was lowered for Obama after his performance. If the second debate is a tie, Obama wins because we as a society will judge on the change in performance. The second debate is the most crucial.
As far as tactics in the debate, Biden won, because the VP debate is typically the "dirty" debate. If either Obama or Romney acted in that way it would be an issue, but the V.P. debate is usually the hard fought debate. Most facts or lack there of are used in the V.P. debate than any other. The presidental debates are about message, stay with the message.
You can tell where people lean by how they saw this and the first presidental debate. The independents like myself have the debate score at 1-1 with wins for Romney and Biden. This is a traditional conservative area, but the problem is that both sides Liberal and Conservative have been pushing to the extremes. You are seeing a lot of people looking for that medium which neither of the presidental candidates are giving.

What it says is people are infatuated with the surface and cannot get past that. Ryan is younger and has that little alter boy look that is so easy to be taken back by, but listen to what he said and know this Biden had him good when he let Ryan know that he was too much of a gentleman to post the letter in the media that Ryan wrote requesting funds from a fund he is saying is part of the plan to defund for a balanced budget. That my friends is called politics and politicing. Lie, throw out a bunch of marlarky, look like you have the facts, lie, somemore, tell your opponent that you should not argue and share the time when you are the one who is talking out of turn and the only way to get a word in edgewise is to interupt. If you look at the debate again you will see that Biden was to go first on the issues, but after the first, Ryan took over Biden's time. Biden even had to ask if he was going to be allowed equal time. The people that post here must be in another demension, because it was not the reality of the situation.

Carol says Biden is too much of a gentleman to post Ryan's letter asking for stimulus funds.
Carol I listened carefully to Biden on that point and I heard Biden clearly say that they are not allowed to bring letters to show at a debate but wanted us to take it on faith that Ryan did write that letter.
Regardless, as I've said elsewhere I don't see any hypocrisy in Ryan asking for Stimulus funds for his state. Ryan's problem with the stimulus was that too little of it went to infrastructure spending, presumably what Ryan was planning to use the stimulus money for. I don't see the problem with that. Ryan did what anybody in his position was supposed to be able to do - lobby for money to go to his state for infrastructure spending.
Asking for stimulus money and observing/complaining that money went to foreign companies or countries or that money was wasted are not mutually exclusive.

Biden is nothing more than a hired gun, a professional politician with a tired act, and he is surely not unique in DC. Hollywood paints political "characters" just like him in lots of movies. He's the stereotypical joke telling, back slapping, back room dealing, two faced politician most of us should avoid, but some of us are pathetically hooked on entertainment. We prefer entertainment to information. And if the guy selling us down the river, winks and smiles and laughs easily, we think he must like us and want the best for us. You would think at some point, after seeing this same character do bad things when our back is turned in so many movies and during so many terms and years (40 for him) of cronyism among his counterparts on both sides of the aisle, that we could manage to have a clue or at least want to have one.
This, "my friend" is NOT change. This is no different than when "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" was on the silver screen. Want change? Real change? It is surely NOT Biden's tired old Vegas style comedy act.

They can talk Christian values all they want, but Christians do not take the homes and food out of the mouths of others. In fact it is the other way around. If you do not believe me I suggest you read the "beautitudes" or teachings of Jesus on the Mount, in the same Bible you all want to cram down everyones throat. If God himself gives us a choice, then who are we to think we are better than God and know what is better for us. I have not paid any attention to Biden or Paul before last night. As captain of my debate team in high school the winner was by far Biden. Biden won the starting position, but with each of the following topics most of them were started by Ryan, when in reality it was Bidens turn. Biden was taken back by his opponents miserable stating of facts on his crash course of issues such as the foreign affairs. He challenged a man who did not read it from a book, but sat in the Oval office and experienced it first hand. The whole thing reminded me of a student trying to outwit the professor and the professor amused by the students misconception of the facts. It was classic when Biden challeged Ryan on the letter that Ryan wrote requesting funds he was now criticizing. Romney brought up BIG Bird with an underlying and obvious message that he was in essence going to fire the big yellow bird and Ryan sat there with an expression on his face like he just swallowed BIG Bird. And, by the way Florida is not all the two Rs. For years Florida has been mostly retired Republicans, but today Florida is filled with a younger working population that is tired of job outsourcing, losy pay when there is pay and waiting hand and foot on those that feel they are the select few. Let's clarify a couple things to you, Carol. Biden characterized Romeny's spy scummy spy film on the 47% comment as ''the people who don't pay taxes''. That is not what Romeny said. he said there was 47% of the people who will not ever vote for him no matter what. It is ''several reason'' and several groups of people'' within the 47% he was referring to. His comment was ''right on''...and he was right about the 47%. What is the big deal about this? With the logic there are 47% who ''will'' vote for him...it is the reamining 6% that need to rethink thier vote. we will have to see how that goes. It certainly is no longer a slam dunk Obama will win. Another thing. Romeny never said he was going to get rid of Big Bird. he said he was going to cut funding to PBS. Again...what's wrong with that? There are going to have to be several cuts to several things to fix our economic woes. We don't need PBS on 50 channels at the same time of cable. It is a myth that PBS is privately funded by the ''public''. It gets ''a lot'' of tax money...and Romeny simply was stating there needs to be big cuts. Duh. Are you serious? Everyone loves Big Bird. In fact, Romney probably likes Big Bird better than Obama does. I see Obama more of fan of shows about Anarchy. Obama would be among ''the pigs'' in George Orwell's, Animal Farm.

Biden won the debate for the following reasons.
Medicare and Social Security. We have had Social Security for 77 years and Medicare for 47 and every election Republicans go after it. FIX IT. Don't end it.
Biden made a strong point for more tax breaks to the rich rather than the middle class as well as bringing up the Grover Norquist pledge.
Ryan could not commit to Afghanistan troop withdrawal and hedged on that. He also didn't seem to know Afghanistan troops were replacing US troops when he claimed we had less troops doing what more had done. On abortion, Biden nailed it. It does not matter what your personal beliefs are. This is a country of all people and all religions. You can not pose laws on others based on your beliefs. Personal religious beliefs do not belong as government policy.
Ryan complained about the stimulus and then asked for funds himself was a good one in Joe's corner. Ryan also quoted Scrantons unemployment numbers wrong. Asked what cuts Ryan was talking about, again he had no answer.
Ryan did well but come up short on facts and idea's. I don't think Biden was rude.
Joe called Ryan "my friend" numerous times. But I think he thought some of Ryan's idea's are laughable......and they are.

Or Romney still hiding his tax returns?

Ryan won hands down. He was articulate and kept his cool. Biden was an embarrassment. His continuous interruptions were unbelievably disrespectful and he repeatedly stumbled over facts. Biden had to keep correcting his own mistakes when he was throwing out numbers in between his ums and losing his train of thought. It was the rare occasion when he had fluid commentary and rested on vagueness and self defense tactics of his administration all the while attacking Ryan. If he said "my friend here" one more time I thought I might smack him!

Biden- poster boy for term limits. He's no longer a politician, he's a professional liar. Laughing Joe lost the debate on facts and character. I can't beleive he was still lying about the deaths of four Americans in Lybia. Then again Joe has been around Obama for so long now he can't tell truth from fiction. Joe was right about one thing, he says what he means. "The middle class has been burried by Obama policies these past four years", and We plan to raise taxws by a TRILLION dollars". Thanks for the info Laughing Joe!

I think it is funny the views of the people who are obviously for one candidate or another. People who were angry at Romney for his lack of statesmenship against Obama are happy with Biden today. The people who were happy with Romney's aggressiviness are complaining about Biden's lack of statesmenship.
Can we all say Irony?
Both men in their debates cut off people from speaking and talked over the opponent. Say how great it was for one to do it, but not the other. Hypocrite is the term for people who do that.
As far as one is a professional liar and the other isn't. News Flash: Both are professional liars. They are able to change stances on a dime, and if you think they haven't multiple times depending on the crowd the last few months then you haven't been paying attention.

I didn't find Romney aggressive but I did find him to be in command during the debate. First Obama's deportment gave Romney an edge. He looked distracted, disinterested and bored. He could not even defend his own economic policies in an articulate manner. He fumbled, he droned....etc. That isn't about debate prep - after four years a President should know his economic policies cold. That is the incumbent advantage, no?
Second, Romney did interrupt the moderator, but I did not see him smirking, smiling, or otherwise mugging for the camera while Obama was speaking. Thus I don't find the equivalence between Romney and Biden to ring true.

Upperhoovednaym,
You may have not found him to be aggressive, but many people did. Including the people who were praising his preformance on this site for being aggressive. He was cutting off the moderator and at times the President. Which I found no problem with, as I also didn't find an issue with Bidden's performance. Because in the end that is all they are, performances. Bidden did the appropriate act for the V.P. debate which is historically more biting and vicious than the Presidental debates. There is a coorelation, and I understand if you do not find an equivalance. But as I can see most Romney Supports don't see it, just like Obama supports see Romney has aggressive and rude in the Presidental Debate and Bidden being in command of the second debate. As I said in an earlier post, my view as an undecided independent, is the score on debates is 1-1 wins going to Romney and Bidden.

Joe Biden was the superior debater last night which resulted in several moments where Ryan had that "deer in the headlights" look on his face. Whenever Ryan couldn't just keep repeating his practiced Republican lies about Pres. Obama, he was momentarily speechless. Ryan was exposed as being a deficit hawk hypocrite for supporting two unfunded Bush wars in Iraq and Afganistan and then blame all of the country's deficits on Pres. Obama. He was shown again to be a hypocrite by criticizing stimulus spending, while sending letters requesting stimulus money for his congressional district. He now criticizes Social Security and Medicare spending, but after his father died, he collected Social Security survivor’s benefits for years which helped him pay for attending Miami University of Ohio. Finally, he claims that he believes in bipartisan agreements in Congress, but he has served for years as an obstructionist Republican Teapartier which has resulted in a total gridlock in Congress. During the debate, Biden did a good job of exposing Ryan as the lying hypocrite that he is.

Who won depends on what an individual prioritizes in judging a debate. Style points probably put it at a tie, because Ryan's robotic nature certainly is the counter balance to Biden's smirking. But if you are judging it on content and substance, Biden won this easily. Ryan still refused to provide details, even when pressed for them and Biden had Ryan on the ropes several times with things like Ryan's requests for stimulus money. Also, Biden has an amazing wealth of knowledge and facts to draw from off the top of his head on a multitude of issues. And today's fact check of the debate also show Biden to have been more truthful through the debate...

One thing that Ryan wasn't able to lie about last night was his belief that women should have no abortion or family planning rights that disagree with his Catholic beliefs. Somehow Ryan and the Republican Party believe that women have no rights to decide family planning for themselves if it contradicts their own personal or religious beliefs. Even though Republicans talk endlessly about having a small less intrusive government on issues like health care, gun control, Medicare, government assistance, etc., they intend to use big government to take away a woman's right to make her own family planning decisions. Women need to think seriously of the possibility of returning to a pre-1973 Roe v. Wade world of having only illegal and dangerous abortion choices if Romney and Ryan will this election.

Reminded me of Army time, when a bunch of us would get together and argue about anything, usually things we didn't know a damn thing about. It did relieve the boredom of waiting between assignments and it was better than fighting among ourselves even though no one really got hurt much. Who won the debate is kind of like that. Now if you really wanted to know about the difference between dems and repubs, than forget the video and get a transcript of the event. The words you can check on -- the records are available. But if it is just arguing as an activity, well that's fun too.

Federal support for PBS is only $445 million per year, approximately $1.35 per person, per year. Compare this small amount to what this country will spend on the military if Romney is elected. A report by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities states that Romney's budget plan will further increase our massive defense budget by $7.9 trillion between 2013 and 2022 and will have to cut $7 trillion from all non-defense programs in order to balance the budget. Romney's plan is to not only eliminate PBS, which educates our young children without commercials, but to eliminate most government programs that assist all poor and working class Americans. While Romney's priorities are to further cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans and dramatically increase the military budget, we will all lose more than just Big Bird. We will lose the entire safety net working class people have paid for their whole lives. Of course Romney wants to eliminate PBS because he and Ryan generally depend on low information voters in order to get elected.

Lets Analyze This Debate & How Biden Never Answered The First Question From Raddatz:
I would like to begin with Libya. On a rather somber note, one month ago tonight, on the anniversary of 9/11, Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other brave Americans were killed in a terrorist attack in Benghazi. The State Department has now made clear, there were no protesters there.
RADDATZ: it was a pre-planned assault by heavily armed men. Wasn't this a massive intelligence failure, Vice President Biden?
BIDEN: What is was, it was a tragedy, Martha. It -- Chris Stevens was one of our best. We lost three other brave Americans.
I can make absolutely two commitments to you and all the American people tonight. One, we will find and bring to justice the men who did this. And secondly, we will get to the bottom of it, and whatever -- wherever the facts lead us, wherever they lead us, we will make clear to the American public, because whatever mistakes were made will not be made again.
As You Can All See Biden Dodged The Question Which We All Know The Facts Pertaining to September 11, 2012 when 4 innocent citizens lost their lives!

Now Here Comes The Big Lie From Biden:
RADDATZ: Can we talk -- let me go back to Libya.
BIDEN: Yeah, sure.
RADDATZ: What were you first told about the attack? Why -- why were people talking about protests? When people in the consulate first saw armed men attacking with guns, there were no protesters. Why did that go on
BIDEN: Because that was exactly what we were told by the intelligence community. The intelligence community told us that. As they learned more facts about exactly what happened, they changed their assessment. That's why there's also an investigation headed by Tom Pickering, a leading diplomat from the Reagan years, who is doing an investigation as to whether or not there are any lapses, what the lapses were, so that they will never happen again.
RADDATZ: And they wanted more security there.
BIDEN: Well, we weren't told they wanted more security there. We did not know they wanted more security again. And by the way, at the time we were told exactly -- we said exactly what the intelligence community told us that they knew. That was the assessment. And as the intelligence community changed their view, we made it clear they changed their view.

At the time [of the Benghazi killings], as you recall, we were told it was a protest that went bad and became an attack. Now we are told there was no protest going on outside that embassy. The first indication that they heard anything outside the walls of the … consulate compound was an explosion from gunfire. “There was no protest going on outside that embassy.” It’s not that the protest isn’t what led to the murders of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans; it’s long been suspected that the alleged protest was used as a diversion, created or merely convenient, by the terrorists who wanted to kill Stevens. Rather, there was no protest to begin with.
This is a damning revelation for Obama, who repeatedly invoked the video in his public remarks about the attack. It’s all the more so because Obama’s response to Mitt Romney’s statement about the attack in Benghazi and same-day protest in Cairo, Egypt, was that the Republican has “a tendency to shoot first and aim later.”
Kind of like blaming a non-existent protest based on an obscure movie for sparking the death of our ambassador, Mr. President?

Are you saying that this country would be better off if we had the inexperienced Romney/Ryan team running our foreign policy? Romney has absolutely no foreign policy experience. Romney spent his life as a vulture capitalist closing down American factories and sending our manufacturing jobs to China. The only foreign policy experience Romney has is travelling overseas to visit the money he is hiding in foreign bank accounts so that he won't have to pay any taxes to support our government. Romney only travelled once overseas during this campaign where he embarrassed himself first in England by criticizing the Olympics and again in Israel with his statements showing a lack of understanding of the Palestinian problem. Ryan also has no foreign policy experience. He is a Republican obstructionist Tea Partier who sits on the Budget Committee writing budgets that cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans and pays for it by eliminating the middle class safety net. The Lybian facts are still being investigated to determine what exactly happened that night, but the U.S. foreign policy under Pres. Obama and Sec. of State Clinton has been consistent, supported by our allies, and has been generally very successful.

Use Romney and Ryan's proper names. I would say the same to idiots playing games with Obama or Biden's names. I wonder what came first....the playground tactics of the voters or those of their candidates/party of choice.
It seems a bit naive to believe there is a coincidence. I don't. I don't appreciate childish behaviour overall but I am tending to see it more in the posts such as Carol's here with the "Robme/Cryan" posts. They suggest their originator is in Middle School or worse.
Please, for your own sake and your credibility, try to resist the urge to mock. It suggests an insecurity and immaturity that is unbecoming and worrisome in a person old enough to vote. I am a mature adult well into middle age, with children of voting age. They are taking this election very seriously, and are voting their consciences. I have taught them to be critical thinkers and would not dream to mock them if they were to choose to vote in a party I disagree with. As it is I am still undecided but I will not lean on my sons to vote one way or the other. Certainly I know they wouldn't behave this childishly.

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have some terrific plans for the nation. Help the rich become richer. Make poor and middle class Americans pay more for their healthcare. Force Medicare to become insolvent by 2016, as the CBO reports. Follow a tax plan that does not make mathematical sense as experts say. Lower taxes for millionaires and billionaires. Strip women of the opportunity for legal abortion and full healthcare. Not allow the LGBT community equal rights. Romney and Ryan are determined to take us BACKWARDS to the 1960s! Yippee!

To CJ, - Pres. Obama was never a City Planner. Also, Romney is simply a bad businessman if you care about the average middle class American worker. Romney was simply a greedy vulture capitalist whose only concern was to profit himself and his millionaire investors. He closed down many American factories and sent the jobs to China. He also wanted our auto makers to just go bankupt. Thank God we had a courageous Pres. Obama who stepped in and saved over 1 million American jobs. We have already tried the Republican "good businessman" here in Florida and what we got was the disastrous Gov. Rick Scott. He and his Republican friends in Tallahassee have enriched themselves greatly while reducing benefits for everyone else like unemployment benefits, public employee pensions, Medicare eligibility, educational funding for schools, etc. The problem with businessman running government is that they only think about maximizing profits for a few priviledged individuals instead of looking out for the best interests of everybody.

Sorry Joe c...but I wanted to see the auto companies go bankrupt also...along with all the home owners and everyone else who defualted on loans. This is a free enterprise country, and when one person fials...move out of the way for the next person. it is unfair to thios next in line. The great thing about free enterprise, is you can fail...and then get right back up and try to succed next time. In case you have not noticed, the price of cars is rediculous. i'd like to see a lot of them go under and then maybe some competitor will step in with a product that is revolutionary in price. We need another VW Beetle in this country. The ''rew privileged individuals'' are the people who own companies and creat mass jobs. You bet I want to see them get richer..so they can pay more. ''THAT'' is how things work in the USA. Capitalism is a good thing...unless of course you are some entitlement searching slacker. Rich companies equal high paying jobs...uh...why don't you ''get'' that???

I have to agree with CJ and that the auto companies and banks with fraudulent loans should have been allowed to go bankrupt. In a Free Market they would have been allowed to go bankrupt and the bubble in my opinion would have stopped there. Both Bush and Obama handled this wrong in my opinion.

To hell with ''everybody'', Joe. The slackers need to get out of the way. Obviously, helping people who truely need it is fine...but eliminating the ''entitelment fraud'' alone in this ocunty could very well cure our national debt issues. You are an enabler, and it does not surprise me you support Obama. That is the type of person he appeals to.

Biden, as a seasoned politician, should have had sufficient confidence to debate professionally, but clearly, for some reason, he didn't. While this appealed to his base, it is not their vote that is on the line. I think it was a stupid move.
I wanted Biden to explain why ACA has made my insurance premiums go up. I wanted to understand why he was so passionately in favour of making the wealthy pay a higher tax rate yet so passionately against having the wealthy use their immense purchasing power to pay for Medicare in order to preserve this vital benefit for people like me who will never be able to pay for our own medical costs after retirement. A harsh but just change to medicare. The status quo is unsustainable and so is the cognitive dissonance needed to believe that Medicare can be saved without changing SOMETHING. The simple answer is always "Tax the RICH!" but how many problems are we to believe that will solve? No, Medicare must change. Biden frightened me by giving the impression he thought we would believe that Medicare would miraculously survive without the govt. doing something to save it. He left me with answers to these important questions.
I wanted to hear his explanation for ACA using Medicare dollars without Medicare displaying a consequential loss on the balance sheet. He dodged that question too.
Unfortunately Biden took his mind off the ball and was playing the man instead. Rather than clarity I got ego and pedantry. I'm left unimpressed.

Joe Biden easily won this debate. Biden won on the substantative issues. Ryan was a child on stage who just kept repeating GOP talking points while moistening his emotionally dry throat due to seeing he was in front of a superior contender. Biden showed his years of knowledge and experience and successfully countered Ryan's lies. Ryan and Romney are talking machines for the oligarchs. I am sorry for those of you being duped. & one more word; talk about playing unfair: nasty taking down our signs , You not only talk a bad game you play unfair.

The debates have shown that Ryan and Romney will say anything if they feel it that it will get them elected. Every time they speak to a different group, they say something different. In front of evangelical groups, Romney says he is 100% pro life and will overturn Roe v. Wade. Later he tells an Iowa newspaper that he wasn't planning any legislation to limit abortion rights. At a fundraiser in Boca Raton, Romney tells millionaire donors about his contempt for 47% of the voters who are just takers dependent on government handouts. Then at the last debate, Romney is the great champion of the middle class and a great supporter of all working class people. At the recent V.P. debate, Ryan said he supported a bipartisan Congress. But Ryan has spent his time in Congress as an extreme right wing tea party obstructionist who has signed the Grover Norquist tax pledge and has created gridlock by protecting the Bush tax cuts for the rich and by refusing to compromise on any legislation with the Democrats. The real Romney that we will see if he is elected President will be the Romney that we saw speaking to millionaire donors in Boca about his contempt for 47% of the population. Romney spoke the truth when he didn't know that he was being taped.

Amen, brother.
I wonder what else he has said, or even promised to his Top 1% supporters, in other private meetings that did not have someone secretly taping his actual words.
Romney will take any position, and will say anything, in order to get elected.
I'd like to think he just doesn't realize how many lies he is telling, but I'm afraid he is very much aware of his many lies to the American people.

For Ms Belle, who posted what I can only call a ludicrous comment about impeachment of President Obama (her claim is much worse and more distorted than even the left-wingers who rabidly called for Bush's impeachment for making up a phony reason to launch the war in Iraq, notably a highest level deliberate act which - on the basis of false intelligence - subsequently cost thousands of US lives and tens of thousands of Iraqi civilian lives, versus a midlevel management error in the State Department), she should take note of what the parents of Ambassador Stevens have said:
[from Bloomberg News]
"The father of Christopher Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya who was killed in the attack in Benghazi last month, said his son’s death shouldn’t be politicized in the presidential campaign.
“It would really be abhorrent to make this into a campaign issue,” Jan Stevens, 77, said in a telephone interview from his home in Loomis,California, as he prepares for a memorial service for his son next week.
Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee, has criticized President Barack Obama for not providing adequate security in Libya, saying the administration has left the country exposed to a deadly terrorist attack.
The ambassador’s father, a lawyer, said politicians should await the findings of a formal investigation before making accusations or judgments."
The family's wishes trump political tactics, and also make sense for thinking Americans.

Tired of all those hypocrites who want to "save" an unborn fetus and support the child molester priest. What is your purpose? Save a child so he can sexually assault by well respected sex predator (priest)
Richard M. Swier
7:36 am on Monday, October 15, 2012
Georgia,
Actually the priests you speak of were gay. They are classified as pederasts. Pederasts are all homosexuals. The Church erred in allowing gays to become priests and paid a sever price for their tolerance. The Church expected these gay priests to uphold their sacred vows and they failed not only their professed God but society and the children they were supervising. It is a common story like that of Sandusky from Penn State.
As for the unborn, is he or she not subject to the equal protection clause of our Constitution? If not then neither are you protected. It is a slippery slope and leads to what Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, supported - the purification of the race by elimination of the weak and infirm. It is called Eugenics. Please read quotes from Margaret Sanger here: http://www.dianedew.com/sanger.htm
Margaret Sanger on blacks, immigrants and indigents:
"...human weeds,' 'reckless breeders,' 'spawning... human beings who never should have been born." Margaret Sanger, Pivot of Civilization, referring to immigrants and poor people

Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, was a nurse, a great humanitarian, and a sex educator in an age when there was little sex education available. Margaret Sanger was a product of her times. She was born in 1879 in a Victorian world where people viewed many social issues much differently than we see these issues today. Your simplistic character assassination of her does not change the fact that she was correct in believing that women have an absolute right to health care, family planning, birth control, and abortion. You have a right to your personal and religious beliefs, but you have no right to impose your religious beliefs on anybody else. We live in a free country here. We do not have a theocracy like they do in Iran. You need to live by your own personal and religious beliefs and let everybody else live by theirs. I can't stand religious bullies like you who try to force women back into the Dark Ages where they may die seeking dangerous and illegal abortions because you don't think that they should have their rights.
Richard M. Swier
5:18 pm on Monday, October 15, 2012
Joe,
Yes, she was all of those things and also a promoter of Eugenics, a plan to purify the race and create a new world made up of eugenically superior humans. Her work was inspirational and embraced by Adolf Hitler. He put into practice on a large scale what she was teaching. Here are some other quotes from Sanger:
On the purpose of birth control:
The purpose in promoting birth control was "to create a race of thoroughbreds," she wrote in the Birth Control Review, Nov. 1921 (p. 2)
On the extermination of blacks:
"We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population," she said, "if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members." Woman's Body, Woman's Right: A Social History of Birth Control in America, by Linda Gordon
On respecting the rights of the mentally ill:
In her "Plan for Peace," Sanger outlined her strategy for eradication of those she deemed "feeble-minded." Among the steps included in her evil scheme were immigration restrictions; compulsory sterilization; segregation to a lifetime of farm work; etc. Birth Control Review, April 1932, p. 10
They are being followed by Planned Parenthood. If you notice that 70% of abortion clinics are in minority neighborhoods. Here in Sarasota the largest abortion clinic in Florida is located in New Town. No surprise given Sanger's hate of those inferior blacks.

Richard, fyi, most of pederast are not homosexuals and most closeted homosexuals are the most intolerant people with a hidden agenda (new born christians, extreme conservatives to mention some) Nobody has the right to take away women choices with their pregnancy. Abortion is a personal desicion not a constitutional or religiuos commandment.

Georgia,
I think you need to understand the difference between a pedophile and pederast. Not all pedophiles are homosexual, however all pederasts are homosexual. You need to understand the difference.

Show me where in the Bible it says Thou Shalt not Kill unless? I can only guess you are either Christian or Catholic because you use the word sin. Mr Swier, your lack of understanding regarding the issues of homosexuality related to child molestation is astounding! The statistics are very clear on this. Middle aged white straight males account for the overwhelming segment that commit this crime! It is a crime of power not sex in the offenders mind and has nothing to do with being gay! Actually you misunderstand the statistics. Gays are over represented in child molestations as a percentage of the population. Just as blacks are over represented in murders of whites and blacks as a percentage of the population.
Actually, the Obama administration has redefined children as "sexual beings". A gay group named B4U-ACT wants to redefine pedophiles as "minor attracted persons". Read about it here: http://manupflorida.blogspot.com/2011/08/b4u-act-baltimore-conference-pedophiles.html
