Biden’s Oakstead Visit to Cause Little Interruption for Students
Parents and students can expect a relatively normal school day despite a vice presidential visit on Tuesday.
Oakstead Elementary School students who were hoping to get out of work on Tuesday when Vice President Joe Biden stops by to pay a visit might be out of luck.
According to Pasco School District officials, the academic day should be much like any other.
“It will be a normal school day,” said Summer Romagnoli, the district’s spokeswoman. “The Vice President will tour one class and speak to some parents in the media center.”
Students in other classes can anticipate little change to their schedule.
“They have worked all weekend to ensure that his visit will cause as little disruption as possible,” Romagnoli said.
Biden is coming to Florida this week to speak about the American Jobs Act. While the Oct. 4 stop at Oakstead is just one planned visit on his tour, the district is happy to host him, she added.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the needs of public education.”
Biden is expected to speak at the school at 12:30 p.m.

Are you kidding me? Why would they downplay this? The vice president of the United States visits a local school, an he will visit one class, an a couple of hand selected students?
What's the matter with these administrators? EVERY kid should see him....EVERY teacher.....this is a once in a lifetime chance to see someone that will go down in history. Why meet parents? It's supposed to be about jobs...why not meet a few teachers. They are missing the boat here.
The VP should be greeted by the entire school...he should give a 5 minute talk. So what do they have planned ? A useless walk thru.

That would be called, The Pasco County School District! They really could care a less about the students. Stay involved, keep your eyes and ears open and make sure you pay attention to who you vote in for school board!
