NPR's "Car Talk" is ceasing production of new episodes after 25 years.

Sad news out of Boston today: Tom and Ray Magliozzi, better known as the Saturday morning radio mechanics on NPR's "Car Talk," are calling it quits, NPR reports.

The show will continue to air in reruns, but after 25 years of giving at once useful and hilarious advice on car maintenance to callers with every manner of malfunction, no new episodes will be produced. Older brother Tom is 74 years old, while Ray is 63.

The show was first broadcast on WBUR in Boston in 1977. It's now the most popular program on NPR and is heard coast-to-coast.

The show airs in the Tampa Bay area on WUSF 89.7. It is unclear whether WUSF will put another show in the "Car Talk" Saturday 10 a.m. time slot or air reruns.

I have enjoyed Car Talk for almost all of the 25 years. Wherever I have lived there was Click & Clack and their vaulable advice and uplifting humor. On cross country car trips we surfed the car adio stations looking for them. Being of their agegroup, I get it! it is time to smell the cappucino but our Saturday morning coffees will never be the same. Go with God Guys. Thanks for the memories.

I'm with you Janet! I know nothing about cars, but their show was so much fun to listen to. It will be missed!

What I loved most about these guys is the way they laugh at their own jokes. Even if their joke was awful, their belly-shaking laughter made it worth sitting through every punchline. They have more than earned their retirement. I never thought that learning about the inner workings of cars could be so much fun.

Hey, dont they have a son or daugther that would like to continue with Ray. I learned that a heavy bunch of keys was not a good idea . and that sometimes we women have some good ideas about basic driving that our husbands have adamantly stuck to even when we women make sense . On car talk we find out how to either spend the moneyu for a repair or get another vehicle. They will be missed.

Saturdays will not be the same w/out Click and Clack! Thier laughter and bad jokes made the hour one of my very favorites.

Click and Clack will truely be missed on Saturday mornings. It wasn't just their keen advice, belly-shaking laughter, and stories that I'll miss but more so their whitty weekly puzzler.
