Looking for something fun to do with the family after work?
Interested in finding a way to keep them and your neighborhood safe?
You will be able to find all three of those things close to Trinity and New Port Richey next week. The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is holding its National Night Out Event Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Target on Little Road in Trinity. It is free to attend.
National Night Out is an annual drug and crime prevention event that is now in its 29th year. It’s held around the nation in August, but in Florida and Texas, it’s normally delayed to the fall due to the heat. Target is a major sponsor of National Night Out.
The National Night Out event in Trinity is the only one the sheriff’s office is holding in Pasco County.
The event features free food and activities for the whole family to enjoy. It also features chances to meet and learn from from sheriff’s office deputies.
“It’s another way for citizens and the community to come out and meet the officers who serve and protect them,” said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kevin Doll.
It’s also a way to introduce citizens to the tools they can use to protect themselves, their loved ones and their communities.
Doll said there will be in formation on how to set up neighborhood watches and community watches, tips on protecting your valuables from theft and ways to communicate with and stay abreast of news at the Sheriff’s Office.
The event also offers giveaways from Target and provides childrens' finger printing.
National Night out goes from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Target at 2900 Little Road.
