Help Needed Nearby: Benefit Concert for Child Diagnosed with Brain Tumor

The fundraising event Friday will help with the Weightman Middle School student's medical expenses.

We know Weightman Middle School isn't technically in our coverage area, but we heard about this boy's story and wanted to let everyone know that this is happening right around the corner.

Aaron Klingebiel, a student at Weightman, was recently diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. A fundraiser is being held April 13 to help his family with his medical expenses.

The event kicks off at 4:30 pm. with "tailgating," which includes $5 chicken dinners, facepainting, a cake walk and a silent auction. A performance by Kirsten Joyer and Mainstream will begin at 7 p.m. Concert tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the event.

The benefit will be held at the Wesley Chapel Performing Arts Center, 30652 Wells Road.

What a disgrace to our country that a family has to organize fundraisers to get their child medical care! It makes me very sad to read this but if we all chip in, maybe we can help this boy. I read about this last month and I am wondering why some of the doctors or medical profession volunteer to help out as well? No wonder my neighbor's son went down to Argentina to one of the the best hospitals there, all american equipment and english speaking doctors and his MRI was $35.00 and his treatment was $1000 for what they wanted $15000 up here. And in total he paid $3000 and had a vacation too. And he's been fine ever since.
