Looking For Love In The Nudist Lifestyle

And you thought it was tough enough just being single out there.

The recent passing of Valentine's Day reminds those of us who are single  and want to be in a relationship of how lonely a day it can be. Many single people are quite content not being involved with someone for a number of reasons, but most would prefer to be in a quality, lasting relationship.

Being a Nudist  provides a whole new set of issues for those seeking  this  elusive relationship.

Exactly how does one bring this subject up in the "getting to know you" process of dating?

If you're lucky, you may meet someone who's already in the lifestyle and it won't be one "hurdle" you have to get over. Truthfully though, most people you meet and want to get to know better will not be part of it or even aware of it except for what they've heard about it.

Though I've been interested in the life myself since I was quite young, my ex-wife of 24 years was not interested so I didn't force the issue out of respect for her wishes. My second relationship of 8 years was with someone who had a "sure, why not" attitude and that gave us the opportunity to really get involved in it and meet some wonderful people in the process.

Sadly, that relationship also ended on good terms and this is when I decided to move here and live my lifestyle choice full-time. After a while, I was ready to try this relationship thing again, hoping to find someone already in the Nudist life. I tried joining  the Tampa Bay Single Nudists, a local social group catering to people in our lifestyle, but in those early days of its existence  I found a heavy mix of men versus women, and lost interest in attending the social events they held. They are still going strong after several years and have regular get togethers at Caliente and other area venues.

There are online dating sites dedicated to Nudists, but for the most part the ones I liked were far away from here or were just not sure what they were looking for. I also tried many of the conventional dating sites and was completely up front about my lifestyle choice in my profile so as not be misleading about who I am. It's not something you want to drop into a conversation on your sixth date.

I am happily involved with someone now who is not part of the lifestyle, though we get along very well in spite of it most of the time. She tries to respect my lifestyle choice but won't really give it a try herself, and I respect that. She has met many of my friends in the life so she knows how "normal" we are, whatever defines that word nowadays.

But it doesn't mean it's not an issue that can be ignored if we progress to the point of sharing a home or other issues.

Right now,we take it one day at a time ...
