Politicos: 'Say Goodbye, Mr. Obama'

Music, and area politicians, fired up the crowd before Mitt Romney took the stage. Here are some select quotes.

Before the main act — Gov. Mitt Romney — took the stage, some area politicians helped heat up the estimated 15,000-plus-people at Land O’ Lakes High School's stadium.

Here are some select quotes from speakers at Romney's Oct. 27 rally.

Any worthy of being called a zinger? That’s for you to decide.

Congressman Rick Nugent:

“This President (Barack) Obama doesn’t have a clue. He’s not a leader. He wouldn’t know how to lead if he could follow instructions. And you saw (Vice President) Joe Biden, the Cheshire cat on TV. … Let’s give a wave goodbye to Obama. Get up, get up! Say goodbye, Mr. Obama.”

Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey:

"Vice President Biden said things are getting better in Florida,” he said. “I don’t think so. Mr. President, your economy is not working!"

U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis:

“We are in the stretch of this campaign season, and I’m here to tell you victory is in our grasp,” he said.

“We need people in office who appreciate America’s exceptionalism and can once again make us a nation cheered by our allies and feared by our enemies.”

Anyone paying attention should remember that lax regulatory oversight by Bush and the two lingering wars put us into a horrible economic situation by 2008. Credit must go to Obama for doing the clean up job on that mess. It is has been well documented and the congressional votes reveal that the main focus by the GOP be has to be obstructionist in regards to taking measures that might have helped the economy recover. They put defeating Obama ahead of the nation. This trickle down business that Romney is peddling is the same old thing that repeatedly weakens the country.

Rex, I'm surely not a Bush fan. I'm a conservative and Bush was not. Bush is the reason the Tea Party was born ( Him an McCain, Baohner, McConnell et). The war in Afghanistan was an absolute necessity. Not the one in Iraq. What would have happened had 9/11 happened on Obama's watch? It freaks me out to think of it so Bush was the right man for his first term but not his second. i voted for him second term because Kerry was a joke to me. Obama has NEVEr come across the aisle. Never. he hasn't a budget because Americans would never accept it. Sometimes the facts get in the way. Go Romney.

I know it is hurting all you librturd socialists to see America rebuff yet another man who hates America and her ideals. Once every 30 years it seems it takes a fool like Obma to make our citizens understand what made us the greatest, strongest and richest nation on earth in less than 200 years. And NOW we will be even stronger after we clean up the shithole this bastard and the Demorts in Congress have left us. Get ready to party!!!

Please stop the finger pointing! Are we better off than we were 4 years ago. The figures say 'no'. A different approach with all parties working together would indeed by refreshing. Four more years of the same is depressing.

Why is it that Romney supporters often diminish the discussion with name calling and profanities? Just because others have a different point of view does not mean that we, nor the President, hates this country. Nevertheless, if we do any real research, the stats show that the econ is improving. Unemployment is down, consumer confidence is up. The trends are there to suggest that Pres. Obama's policies are moving things in the right direction. The question for the opposing point of view may be whether or not you think someone else could improve things faster. If I am to believe what Gov. Romney has said during the primaries, I have no choice but to vote for the Pres. Gov. Romney stated that he would cut education, cut deductions, cut/change Medicare, etc. He does not believe that government investment can make a difference in jobs and believes most things should be privatized. He said we do not need more teachers, policemen and fire fighters. He has no provision for preexisting conditions should Obama's healthcare plan be repealed. He will defund planned parenthood and deny poor women basic healthcare screenings. Mr. Romney will not be able to work with congress. His far right policies won't pass the Dems. Nothing will change. Remember, Pres. Obama made several gestures towards the Repubs. They wouldn't even go to the WH to have drinks with him. Their agenda was set before he took office. Congress is the reason we haven't come out of this recession sooner.

Why does Romney love America more? How do you address all of his questionable comments like "I can't have any illegals working here. I'm running for office." Since this country is made of a variety of ethnic groups, I find this insulting. As a minority, I have personal experiences that made me wonder if I were welcomed here. Furthermore, if my only concern during my college years was how much of my stock to sell to make ends meet, then I would think everything was great about my life as well. I am a productive American, and a part of the 1%. I should vote for Romney. But, if he is going to cut all the education funding that I and others needed to become successful, we will be looking at a permanent class system where only the "haves" will be able to pull themselves up out of their current situation. Now that is unAmerican! I am a true Independent. I voted for Gore, then Bush. I've voted Repub and Dem. Stop all of this trash about who is the better American and present facts that will educate the rest of this forum's participants.

As a small business owner Obama is strangling MY customers. Trekky? I think you are trolling on this site. I don't really believe much of what you say.

Small comments for small minds. What, is this site only for the "successful" white man. You show your true selves with this type of dialogue. You have nothing intel ligent to add so you result to insult & supposition. If this is how you defend your candidate, I think even he would be ashamed. Trying to bully someone you don't know makes me feel sorry for you.
