Hey kids, time to gear up for some fun on the field this weekend.
The Pasco Sheriff’s Office has partnered with Dick’s Sporting Goods to host its first-ever Pasco Police Athletic League Football and Cheer Camp for kids ages 5-15 this Saturday, June 16, at the Land O’ Lakes Recreation Complex.
The camp will feature four football and cheerleading skills stations, a K-9 demonstration, surprise guest speakers, bounce house, dunk tank and free t-shirts to the first 500 registered participants.
There also will be a sports memorabilia auction, raffles and giveaways.
A portion of the event proceeds will benefit the Vitale family of New Port Richey. Lori Vitale, a longtime PPAL volunteer, lost her battle with cancer in January. Her husband passed away a month later, according to a Pasco Sheriff’s Office press release. Their son Eric started with PPAL as an under-performing student; he has since become an honors student and football standout at Fivay High, the release stated.
“We’re excited to host this camp to reach our youth and build bridges in our community with law enforcement. I’m very thankful for the sponsorship with Dick’s Sporting goods and all the volunteers that will make this camp a success. We have a unique opportunity to help a family that has helped our program for years and we look forward to supporting them in their time of need as they have supported us,” Sheriff Chris Nocco said in a press release.
The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
You can preregister on the PPAL website for $8 per participant.
Onsite registration begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at the recreation center. Day-of registration cost is $10 per participant. Parents/spectators are admitted free.
