Reader: Stolen Pinwheel Situation Has Happy Ending

Prevent Child Abuse America President and CEO James M. Hmurovich thanks Sierra Properties in this letter to the editor.

Patch ran a story recently about the apparent theft of about 200 roadside pinwheels, which were meant to honor Child Abuse Prevention Month. But thanks to landowner Sierra Properties, the pinwheels had been replaced and were attached to fence posts, making them harder to remove.

Here's a letter we received from a reader:

After reading your story from April 11th titled "Why Would Someone Steal 200 Pinwheels?" we are writing about our appreciation for Sierra Properties and their generous efforts to replace the stolen Pinwheels on State Road 56. Pinwheels for Prevention is a campaign who's focus is not only highlighting the ways we can support the healthy development of children and their families, but an effort to activate citizens everywhere to play a role in  of the children and families who live in their communities. Through this simple, but profound gesture, Sierra Properties has done more to demonstrate what we are striving for in communities nationwide than any press release or Op-Ed ever could.

Regards,

James M. Hmurovich, President & CEO
