Tampa Bay Area Tornado Watch Extended
Heavy storms are expected to last throughout the evening.
It’s going to be a long, stormy night in the Tampa Bay area.
Courtesy of Tropical Storm Debby’s continuing impact on the area, the National Weather Service has extended its tornado watch for the entire region until 5 a.m. tomorrow. The watch includes such counties as Pasco, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota.
A tornado watch means that conditions are favorable for tornado development.
Tornados have been reported throughout the region all day. Inasmuch, the National Weather Service has also been issuing tornado warnings for multiple counties in the Tampa Bay area. A warning “is issued when a tornado is indicated by the WSR-88D radar or sighted by spotters; therefore, people in the affected area should seek safe shelter immediately,” according to the weather service’s website.
To find out if your community is under a tornado warning, visit the National Weather Service's Severe Weather Summary page on its website.
Flood advisories also remain in effect for the Tampa Bay region. Severe street flooding has been reported in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties, among other areas.
How is your neighborhood weathering the storm? Let us know in the comments section.
Stay with Patch for updates about the storm as they become available.

Hi,
I am a snowbird that lives on Honeymoon Island in Royal Stewart Arms.
Does anyone know if there is flooding in there?
Are the cars in the lot affected by the water flooding the parking lot.
Many thanks for any info on this.
Hope all of my Florida friends are safe.

We live in Raintree Lakes ( grey condos) in Raintree on a lake and the trees are going crazy! Thought it was going to push through our upstairs backed screened porch..Lost power for a few seconds.... but we're ok..cable & internet went down..but it's back up now. We've stayed inside for 2 days. Roads too dangerous. Sharon Alvarez

Hi DLC! I live nearby. I was out at the intersection of Causeway and Bayshore Boulevard around 4:30-5p.m. Some cars had to turn around because they could not drive through the intersection toward Honeymoon Island. Here is a link if you'd like to watch the video: http://patch.com/A-v3qs

Hi DLC! I just did a drive-by for you. Looks like all is well at Royal Stewart Arms. The parking lot looks like it drained off and no signs of any cars being swept away!

To all who responded and even drove by RSA to check things out for me thank you!!!
You certainly helped me get a good nights sleep.
Love being able to keep up with the coming and goings of Dunedin while we are not there through the Patch. I cannot understand anyone saying your news is uninformative.
Thanks again.

I live at intersection of Parsons & Limoma St. Its 9:50 and I just got back home from an emergency trip I had to make to Miami this morning. No flooding or water backing up, but I can see all my outside furniture was blown away. Tree branch's are all bent, etc. I left at 7:30 am and the rain on 75 was so heavy that had to go 45 MPH a few times and om the way back on 75 the rain was not that bad just the wind gusts were forcing me to the other lanes. Had to slow down most of the time.

The article was so uninformative; Patch should be ashamed of itself. Even captions on the photographs would have provided some information, at least. No wonder there are so many questions from readers. If Patch cannot do any better, maybe it should cease publication.

Well cherylwithac maybe you should start your own publication and use all your expertise to write and discuss weather and flooding problems.
You sound like a know it all and we would love to see how wonderful you are.

I think the article was informative, as much as can be expected with "unpredictable" storms, There is no further information on other news broadcasts. (Not sure why you are against patch, or if perhaps you are so bored you have posted such nonsense on other news information sites?) It seems residents of ALL neighboring areas and different county's are keeping everyone posted with quick blogs. One newscast, or person cannot be in so many different areas all at once. There has been and continues to be erratic, hits and tornados randomly throughout several counties. I commend all the residents of this area, and HIGHLY commend those out in the storms so WE can all be safe!
cherylwithac you go right ahead on out there and get some pictures, speak to residents, and see what you can get, make your own story start your own blog, tweet whatever. Show us what you can do! I almost want to dare ya~ Don't forget the storm is covering the majority of the whole state as well. Cover that!

Hi Andrea, it appears as if there are some outages in the Temple Terrace area. Here's an article we just posted on TECO outages throughout the Bay area: http://patch.com/A-v3CD

Thank you so much for some actual information about Temple Terrace! We seem to get overlooked (even by Bay News 9) that repeats its information so often, I can't suffer it for more than an hour... And a response from an actual human being is rare, too!

in OSH, half my oak tree just fell. All that rain caught in the crook of the "Y" shaped tree, and cracked in two. Thankfully, it seems to have only glanced my shed. i'll know more when daylight comes.

Is that really what tornado watch means? I thought it was a call for nudists to skip about with their wangs out and wank in the rain. You know, trying to be romantic and what not.
