Looking for something to help the children pass the time during the winter holidays?
Xtreme Adventures has some ideas, including laser tag, bowling, arcade games, food and more.
Xtreme Adventures, 24810 State Road 54, is housed in a large warehouse-like building that looms over other smaller niche shops in its plaza. Owners Ann and Warren Atkinson had the building as a World Gym originally but decided a change to a family fun center over time, they said.
The main feature of Xtreme Adventures is, of course, the laser tag. The building contains a 6,000-square-foot bi-level "Lazer Frenzy" arena where up to 30 customers can participate in a game at a time. Old and young are always encouraged to participate, the Atkinsons said.
Other attractions at Xtreme Adventures include arcade games that one can play to earn tickets in order for a prize exchange. Do not underestimate the power of those tickets either; one patron collected 65,000 tickets. This was enough for a Wii, the owners said.
Xtreme Adventures also has Highway 66 Bowling, or for those of from above the Mason-Dixon Line, Duckpin Bowling. This type of bowling features shorter lanes, smaller bowling balls, and no shoes, which makes for a hassle-free fun time for a family with young children.
Xtreme Adventures even mixes up its laser tag play style. On Thursdays, for example, players get 30 minutes instead of 15 minutes a game.
Leila Kroll, manager of Xtreme Adventures said this about her job, "Everyday makes me smile. It's just a fun place to work."
"It's a really fun atmosphere," said Joanna Horan, assistant manager. "It's hard to have a bad day at work … the kids are happy, too. It's fun to be part of that."
Even with being a fairly new business in the area, there is a lot of repeat business. Because of this there is a "Laser Tag Loyalty" program where patrons can earn free games and prizes through the Family Fun Center.
"It's nice, close and local in the area," said Scott Feltner, a repeat customer. "And, it's good fun entertainment for the kids."
Planning a party or corporate outing? Xtreme Adventures also has packages they sell for those purposes, as well.
