Praising Hymn will perform June 4 at The Shops at Wiregrass.
Praising Hymn is on a mission of sorts. “We’re a band doing God’s will for music and spirituality,” said Logan Laubach, the group’s rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist. The Wesley Chapel-based, five-piece has been bringing its brand of Christian rock music to the region for two years. Though they are no longer affiliated with the house of worship, Praising Hymn used to play often at Crossroads Church. They have also performed at Organic Life Coffee in Lutz and the Church Street Christmas event in Dade City. Their next performance is scheduled for June 4 at the You Nite event hosted by The Shops at Wiregrass. They will play from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Laubach said. Praising Hymn also consists of lead guitarist Jeff Duncan and his son Joey, the…

The local band Stonegrey consists of members who recently graduated from Land O' Lakes High School or are current attendees.
If you’re looking for a good story behind the name of his band, Stonegrey, guitarist Tristan Dusek said you won’t find it. “I knew that would come up eventually,” the 17-year-old said of the question regarding the moniker's meaning. “I couldn’t tell you. Stonegrey just came up and we liked it. There’s no real meaning to it.” The local four-piece band, which formed as Culprit in 2010, plays a blend of alternative and rock, calling themselves “rock revival” and citing influences such as Alice in Chains, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam. All Stonegrey members are either recent Land O’ Lakes High School graduates or current attendees. The band’s lineup also consists of singer Eric Whitener, 19; bassist Nick Mitchell, 16; and drummer Tyler …

The trio has announced a Tampa stop on its summer tour – a first for the brothers in three years. That has us wondering: Are these guys are still “in” with your tweens and teens?
Back in 2010 there was no question that an announcement of a Jonas Brothers’ Tampa stop was a big deal. After all, Nick, Joe and Kevin were at the top of their game with hits like “Love Bug,” “Got Me Going Crazy” and “Hey Baby” “Burnin’ Up” the charts. They even broke hearts on their own television show and guest appearances on others. Tears flowed harder than the rain when flooding forced the brothers to cancel their Sept. 8, 2010, tour date at what was then known as the 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre in Tampa. Why would I know about or even remember that? No, I’m not a huge fan, but as it turns out my daughter was and she was there for her 11th birthday. To me, it seems like just yesterday that my sister-in-law called to say she had picked …
