...that is, for someone to "cancel out" my aunt's vote up north because she is totally stumped as an independent voter. She has lived up there all her life and never had the good sense to come out of the snow to central Florida with the rest of our flock.
The other day I asked her how she'll vote because we were talking about my joblessness and lack of proper medical care (I'm 55). She said she just cannot bring herself to vote differently "from your Grandpa" (her father).
Why? Well, (I am not kidding), she just said that even though Grandpa's been gone since 1952 he would not want her to "vote colored". She said that.
And she reminded me how turned off grandpa was to "coloreds coming in and taking over my favorite lunch counters". Well, he was from the Old South two hours away.
But Grandpa's long gone. Aunt F. will be voting his way this next week, helping Romney take the electoral votes from Ohio, where I was born.
She still drives a car, too, up there north of Cincy.
Someone please stop the woman!
