The new spring summer 2013 haute couture collections were
filled with flowers, bright color ad white making for a cheery and light
couture season, but none the less opulent.
Christian Dior had many good looks, but one of the ones I
liked the most was a suit made up of a short black skirt and a long black coat,
its lapel covered in little pink flowers. A modern look, accessorized with
yellow tights, but with the craftsmanship and detail haute couture is known
for. Another look was a black dress, one side resembled an everyday sheath but
the other was draped chiffon swishing dramatically as the model walked, the
pink tights she had added a sweet edge I liked a lot, because if you know me
you know I like pink and I like tights. And one of the last looks a white dress
covered in itsy bitsy flowers that gave it a fluffy soft effect, at the top of
the bodice coral flowers were mixed in. Placed upon the model’s head was a
black bonnet.Versace continued the color scheme of white, black and
dashes of yellow, pink and orange, but of course in a Versace kind of way.
Combining the lights colors with heavy decadent gold metal. My favorite looks
were the ones that incorporated pink. (Of course) A pink fur sleeveless vest
that was more like a mini dress cinched in with a huge gold belt. Another fur
look was a white coat covered in what looked like gold leafing, very chic.
Sheer paneling was a big element in the collection, like this white dress with
different colored sleeves and neckline- I think it is very fun. A neon pink
mini dress with a top layer of white iridescent starting short and ending in a
long dramatic train worn by model Lindsey wixson was my favorite out of all the
looks!
Almost everything in the new Chanel collection was covered
in flowers from beaded abstract flowers in red, cream, yellow and other
dazzling colors to printed chiffon with the lightest of grey florals to the
flowers worked into the lace thigh-high boots some of the models wore.
Chiffon, lace, flowers and sheer details made up this
gorgeous Valentino haute Couture collection. It was hard to only choose a few
looks that were my favorites! A little white dress, fitted to the waist with
transparent shoulders was so sweet, simple and yet so detailed- I just adore
that dress! Also the dress walking away in the background with the same
detailing but in red was stunning. This cream confection of a dress was just
the cutest thing. I love how the jacket has a little ruffle at the top and
transparent sleeves. And that skirt covered in ruffles! The signature Valentino
red color made up this dress, a simple shape with detailed 3-D lace. A dress
that looked like it had stepped out of a fairytale strode down the runway with
its romantic puff sleeves and watercolor print. Perfect. And last but not least
a chiffon dress covered in daisies!
Another dress covered in daisies was by Giambattista Valli,
it was a sweet tea length sweet heart neckline dress with poufy skirt. Another
dress I liked in the collection was covered in little pink flowers with sheer
paneling on the midriff. My favorite was a faded lilac floor length draped
gown, with neckline covered in a flurry of petals, down the front was a slit up
to the waist, the model pulled it away to one side by tucking her hand into a
pair of matching trousers. Other looks included black and white prints, Couture
crop- tees and lots more tulle.
Stephane Rolland put together a collection of mostly black
and white. My favorite looks were the white gowns. One of which looked like a
very low cut short cocktail dress until you looked down, connected to the mini
dress by transparent silk was the bottom of a
mermaid style gown covered in feathers, such a beautiful and innovative
idea! Another white gown had a close fit, draped collar and the hips covered in
green flowers, and another was a gorgeous cloud of flowing chiffon that trailed
after the model.
