5 Things Include Ping Pong, An Historic Race

Some things you might want to know today, Aug. 19.

Don’t look now, but Friday has arrived, and none too soon — unless you work Saturdays through Wednesdays, and then it is too soon. But for most of us this is good news, so here’s a few things to consider as you go through the day around Land O’ Lakes.

You should be used to this

Forecasters are calling for a fairly typical August day, which means afternoon showers and thunderstorms are possible. Before the rain and after the rain, it will be hot. The weather service says today should be a bit more normal with storms forming inland and spreading.

Everyone needs help sometimes

It’s the last Friday before school starts, and families hit hard by the economy need to be sure applications for free or reduced school lunches are current. Parents need to reapply for this year, and applications can be found at any Pasco County school cafeteria or administration office.
