5 Things Includes Go Skateboarding Day, Summer's Official Start

What's happening today, June 21?

It’s Tuesday and there are a lot of things going on in and around town. If you’re wondering what’s up, here are five things to consider as you go about your day:

  • The weather – It’s going to be another hot one out there with highs around 95 and lows in the 70s. Rain chances are pretty low, but they do get better as the week progresses.
  • There are two county meetings going on – Do you want to get more involved in local government? You have two chances today. Both the Pasco County Commission and the Pasco County School Board meet today. The county commission meeting starts at 10 a.m. at the West Pasco Government Center, 7530 Little Road. The school board meeting starts at 6 p.m. at 7227 Land O’ Lakes Blvd.
  • It’s the first day of summer – With all the 90-degree days we’ve had as of late, it’s hard to believe that summer is just now arriving! Today is the first official day of the summer season.
  • It’s the anniversary of the Constitution’s ratification – On this day in 1788, the United States Constitution was ratified by New Hampshire. This was the ninth and last required state to approve of the document, according to History.com.
  • You can go skateboarding – Today is Go Skateboarding Day! If you want to celebrate, just stop by the Land O’ Lakes Recreation Complex where there’s a skate park just waiting for you to check it out.
