Are You Smarter Than a 3rd-Grader?

Pine View Elementary student Sammy Hankins has a question for you.

Sammy Hankins, 7, of Land O' Lakes was named a Davidson Institute Young Scholar after demonstrating "evidence of extreme intellectual precocity."

Sammy frequently stumps his mother. "I have to look stuff up all the time," Julie Hankins said.

"Ask me anything," I told him during .

"What's an emirp?" Sammy said.

Uhhhh ... I had no idea. He had to explain it to me. So do you know what an emirp is and how it works? Tell us in the comments.

OK, so the question is what is an emirp, not an emerp like I had it earlier. And considering I know what it is, that's pretty bad! Now that it's corrected, any guesses?

The clue is that emirp is prime spelled backwards. (As in prime numbers.)

Exactly. (Editors, I tell ya!) So how does it work?
