Family Hosts Golf Tournament for Severely Injured Motorcyclist

Golfers and raffle items are needed for the March 10 event at Plantation Palms that will help offset the Land O' Lakes resident's medical bills.

Jamie Farr, 27, of Land O’ Lakes was driving his motorcycle near Wiregrass Mall on Jan. 31 when a car suddenly pulled in front of him.

Farr was unable to stop.

Six days later, he woke up at St. Joseph’s Hospital, unable to remember the accident.

Farr suffered a fractured skull, a broken arm, shattered elbow, shattered wrist, lacerated liver, abdominal tear and a broken pelvis. His recovery is going to be a long one, his girlfriend, Shannon Jungbauer, of Land O' Lakes said.

Though Farr is home now, he is unable to return to his job with a road painting company in Zephyrhills for at least three months—that is when doctors say he should be able to walk again, Jungbauer said.

They are not sure at this point he will be able to return to that type of physical work at all, even after he has recovered, she said.

To help offset the costs of Farr’s medical bills and lost income, the Jungbauer family is hosting a golf tournament at the on Saturday, March 10.

“We’re trying to do everything we can to get him back to being 100 percent Jamie,” Jungbauer said.

The cost to participate is $260 per four-person team or $65 for an individual golfer, which includes 18 holes of golf, riding cart, hot dog/hamburger buffet and an awards presentation.

Awards will be given to all members of the first and second place teams. Winners of the “Closest to the Hole” and “Longest Putt" contests also will receive awards, according to the tournament’s website.

Participants are asked to register online by March 6.
