'God Bless These Little Legs'

Rushe Middle School teacher Lori Griggs and her husband have entered a contest in hopes that the prize money will help their 3-year-old daughter walk—and they need your help.

The parents of Kiley Griggs, a 3-year-old girl with cerebral palsy, won a contest last year that netted them money to fund intensive therapy that they has helped their daughter gain strength.

Now they have entered her into another online contest in hopes of winning funds to use for future therapy sessions.

Their dream is for Kiley to walk, which she cannot currently do unassisted.

The Griggs won the grand prize in the Upromise Dream Wall sweepstakes last year, which promised $10,000 to the winner of that top prize.

After government deductions, the total the Griggs have available is less than that.

Lori Griggs, Kiley's mother, is a teacher at Rushe Middle School in Land O' Lakes. Jason "Jay" Griggs, Kiley's father, is a firefighter for the city of Dunedin.

The Griggs used the contest money to enroll Kiley in TheraSuit Therapy, which they hope will help her move toward the goal of walking.

She has finished one 15-day regimen at Lampert’s Therapy Group in Largo and is scheduled for a new regimen in March. The Upromise money will pay for all the second regimen but not all of the third, which is planned for this summer.

So the Griggs have entered Kiley into Disney’s I Heart My Family Contest. Grand prize winners are offered a $500 Visa gift card.

You can vote once a day for your favorite entry in the contest. The 10 entrants with the most votes will be named grand prize winners and get gift cards. The contest ends at 11:59:59 p.m. on March 22.

Here’s Lori Griggs’ plea:

We have entered another contest that is based on votes on the Internet. This one is with DisneyFamily.com. The winnings from the Upromise contest will cover almost three sessions. We are about $1,000 short to pay for her July session. We found this contest with a $500 prize that only requires you to vote every 24 hours from your computer. You do have to register with your email address and remember your login information for daily voting. We feel this is less of a burden than asking you to come out and join us at an event to spend your hard-earned money. Don't be fooled, we are going to be having some upcoming fundraisers also but this will get us halfway to our goal. Please share with as many people as possible.

God bless these little legs.
