The barbecue is a fundraiser for Dr. Deborah Hawley’s honorary mayor’s race campaign. The race is a community tradition that’s staged each year by the . Contestants vie against each other in a battle to see who can raise the most money. Proceeds benefit the chamber and each candidate’s charity of choice. The winner is announced during the chamber's holiday banquet in December.

The barbecue starts at 3 p.m. at in Land O’ Lakes. The ski show, which will include professional water skiers from Cypress Gardens, is expected to begin around 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for children 16 and younger and free for kids under 2. The price of admission includes food and the show.
