Summer Reading Club 'Slithers' to a Close

The Land O' Lakes Library closed out its elementary school Summer Reading Club with a private party July 28.

Elementary-aged children who managed to keep their noses to the grindstone over the summer were treated to a special party at the July 28.

The event drew to a close this year's for youngsters in elementary school. In order to receive an invite to the party, children had to read at least six books over a set period of time and record their reactions to each title on the library's website at pascolibraries.org.

To make sure youth who completed the program had a time they'd never forget, the library brought in John Storms of the World of Reptiles in Ft. Myers. Storms showed off snakes, lizards, a crocodile and a python, which easily outweighed even most adults present. Youngsters also received certificates heralding their accomplishments and two free books, courtesy of the Friends of the Library.
