Meet the Bands of Rockus Maximus: Oh, Elias

Oh, Elias will compete for the chance to win free recording time and $1,000 during the Pasco County Library System's upcoming battle of the bands.

On Friday, March 23, eight bands of young musicians will compete in Pasco to rock audience members' socks off.  

One band will leave Rockus Maximus XV with the grand prize of 10 free hours of recording time at Morrisound Studio in Tampa and $1,000.

Rockus Maximus XV is the Pasco County Library System's Battle of the Bands, and it features young musicians from the Tampa Bay area and elsewhere.

There is also an online voting competition going on right now. The band that receives the most votes in the online competition will bring home a $500 gift card from Encore Music. A $250 gift card goes to the band with the second highest number of online votes.

Patch: What are the names of your band members, what instruments do they play, how old are they and where are they from?

Oh, Elias: Nick Almieda (guitarist) age 17, Kevin Linares (guitarist) 17, Mathew Henderson (bass) 17, and Sean Wolsky (drums) 17. Nick and Sean are from New Port Richey, and Kevin and Mat are from Venice.

Patch: What style of music do you play?

Oh, Elias: We play melodic hardcore music.

Patch: Why did you enter Rockus Maximus?

Oh, Elias: We entered Rockus Maximus for a chance of exposure and to have fun.

Patch: How long have you been together?

Oh, Elias: We have been together for almost a year.

Patch: What will you do if you win?

Oh, Elias: If we win, we will save the money and put it toward equipment.

Patch: What makes you the best?

Oh, Elias: We aren't the best, we just are a couple nice guys that love playing music together.

Join the audience and support your favorite band at the Rotary Pavilion at The Concourse, 15325 Alric Pottberg Road (1/4 mile west of the Suncoast Parkway on SR-52), in Shady Hills. The concert runs from 6  to 11 p.m.
