Zombiefest Drags Its Way to Pasco

The zombie party is expected to create quite a scare in Port Richey.

Are you dying for the next season of "The Walking Dead"  to start? Can't wait for the next zombie apocalypse movie to unravel onscreen?

Though we can't help speed up the action in Hollywood, we can point you to an event that's much closer to home.

Just take a short drive over to Port Richey this weekend, where the living dead will rise.

Or, at least, the living posing as the undead.

Zombiefest, , starts at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Oasis Coffee Spot at 721 Little Road in the Port Richey area. There will be experts eager to zombify guests to make them look their undead best, a concert and local vendors.

From there, the summoned undead walkers will make Port Richey a little scarier as they amble off around 4:30 p.m. along Embassy Boulevard toward the Cinema 6 movie theater, at 9510 U.S. 19 in Port Richey.

There, they’ll be able to partake in the past-times that all the cool corpes like, such as zombie tag, a Michael Jackson-style "Thriller" dance and a brain-eating contest.

Then at 7 p.m., the theater will screen three as yet undisclosed zombie flicks. The festivities go until 10:30 p.m., and then it’s time to return to the grave bed.

Tickets cost $10 online and will also be on sale at Oasis Coffee Spot for $15. VIP tickets, which include a pre-party on Friday, cost $35. Check out the offiicial Zombiefest website for more pricing information.
