2012 Primary Election Update

An update on the upcoming Primary Election!

We are just weeks away from the August 14, 2012 Primary Election, and the office is abuzz with preparations. Redistricting is behind us, and implementation has been a seamless process thanks to the countless hours of hard work put in by my staff. New voter information cards are going in the mail this week to inform voters of the changes in their legislative districts, and insome cases, changes in precincts and polling locations. All polling places are secured, and pollworker training will begin July 24th. With bookclosing less than two weeks away, (July 16th), I’d like to once again send out the reminder that, per law, Florida is a “closed primary” state. Voters are issued party-specific ballots in the primary, and party changes may not be made at the polls. The exception to this is a Universal Primary Contest (UPC) which we will have this primary election in the County Commission races for Districts 1 and 5. Because all candidates in these contests have the same party affiliation and the winner will have no opposition in the general election, all voters will vote in these races. While we’re still in the calm before the storm, I have one more important reminder about bringing your photo and signature ID when voting at the polls or early voting. My office is available to answer any questions you might have about the upcoming elections.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
