Vote By Mail

Avoid the lines on Election Day and Vote by Mail!

As Supervisor of Elections for Pasco County, I am strongly urging voters to consider vote by mail for the November 6, 2012 General Election due to the length of the ballot which contains 11 constitutional amendments as well as the Penny for Pasco referendum. For the first time, Pasco County voters will be issued a 2‐page ballot which is needed to accommodate the length of the proposed amendments. Because of the long ballot, I think it is reasonable to expect wait lines at the polls on November 6th or during the early voting period. f you are unable to stand for long periods of time, or you are under time constraints to get to work or school, you definitely should consider a vote‐by‐mail ballot.

Vote‐by‐mail ballots allow voters to vote at their convenience and are easily ordered through our website, pascovotes.com, or by calling 800‐851‐8754. The first mass mailing of vote‐by‐mail ballots isscheduled for October 2, 2012, but requests are accepted through Wednesday, October 31, 2012.

Also, voters often relay that they find the wording of the amendments confusing.   The non-partisan nature of the Supervisor of Elections' Office is paramount to ensuring voter confidence.  As such, I'm very cautious about recommending websites or referring voters to anything that gives direction on which way to vote or is partisan or even opinion based.  However, the Collins Center is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that does an outstanding job of taking the legalise wording of the amendments and provides voters the background and information about the amendments without advising you how to vote.  Their website is http://collinscenter.org/

Another option avaialble to voters is Early voting, which is Saturday, October 27th through Saturday, November 3rd. Information regarding early voting locations, hours and wait times is also available online at pascovotes.com.  If you decide to take advantage of early voting or vote on election day, be sure to be prepared by reviewing your sample ballot that will be mailed to you approximately 30 days before election day.
