The promotion extends to active, veteran and retired members of the military and their families as part of the store's "Operation: Thank You" campaign.

Veterans and active duty military personnel are invited to stop by Land O’ Lakes area 7-Eleven stores today for a free small Slurpee on the house.

The promotion runs today, Nov. 11, in honor of Veterans Day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. All current and former U.S. military service personnel need to do to claim their free drink is present proof of service at the checkout.

“The eight-hour Slurpee salute is the centerpiece of a month-long Operation: Thank You campaign, which enlists 7-Eleven customers to show their support for U.S. troops by adding a $1 donation to the USO when they check out at participating 7-Eleven stores,” said Joanne Tam, spokeswoman for the stores.

Operation: Thank You is near and dear to the hearts of 7-Eleven’s leadership team.

“This day in particular holds a special place within the company due in part to the executives’ military background – 7-Eleven President and CEO Joe Depinto, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Darren Rebelez and Senior Vice President of Merchandising, Marketing and Logistics Jesus Delgado-Jenkins are graduates of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point,” she said. “DePinto is also a former U.S. Army officer.  Many other 7-Eleven employees and franchisees are retired or former military or in the U.S. Reserves.”
