Motorists traveling Dale Mabry Highway through Lutz have been getting a blast from the past Mayberry style thanks to a 1967 Plymouth Fury parked outside a newly opened business.
The mint condition car is a real head turner – decked out to look like a Mayberry Sheriff’s Office cruiser from “The Andy Griffith Show.”
So, what’s the story behind the car?
It’s a fully functional prop that’s being used to help set an old-time theme at a brand new business. (Check out New Mail Business Delivers Slice of ‘Mayberry’ for more information.)
The car is “the real deal,” says Paul Laroche of the Lutz Mail Depot.
While it runs and it’s practically guaranteed to turn heads, “it’s not for sale,” he adds.
Even so, admirers are welcome to stop by the new shop at 18801 N. Dale Mabry Highway to check it out.
