Cool Spell Didn't Last Long

The jackets and sweaters didn't get much use as temperatures begin climbing today.

The brief chill we had didn’t really last long enough to even be called a cold snap, much less a cold spell.

The temperature in St. Leo, the closest weather station to Land O’ Lakes or New Port Richey, was 37 Thursday, easily the coldest morning this fall.

After getting into the high 30s around central Pasco on Thursday morning and low 40s near the coast, temperatures will climb today and continue rising into the weekend.

Think mornings in the 50s this weekend in Land O’ Lakes and high 50s in New Port Richey with afternoons going into the low 70s.

Forecasters expect humidity to begin creeping back in, especially by Saturday night and certainly into Sunday. That moisture will be enough for some possible showers to show up on Sunday, though the forecast calls for only a 20 percent chance during the day.

You’ll also see clouds build through the weekend, so say so long to the crisp blue sky that was around on Thursday.

Except for small switches such as partly cloudy one day to mostly sunny the next day and back again, there are few changes in the National Weather Service outlook even into the middle of next week.
