Drexel Road Revamping on County’s Roadmap

The $355,000 project is meant to improve safety near the railroad tracks.

Residents living along Drexel Road in Land O’ Lakes might have noticed some work going on in recent weeks.

Pasco County is paving the way for a reworking of a small section of the road to improve safety, explained Deborah Bolduc, the county’s program administrator in the Engineering Services Department.

Work right now is just in preparation for the project — utility line relocation and so on. The actual reconstruction work won’t start for another nine months or so, she said.

The reconstruction will take place from the CSX Railroad crossing to the Lake Talia subdivision’s southern border, Bolduc said. All told, the project involves a .23-mile stretch.

Once complete, the paved roadway will be less one curve and have shoulders installed in an effort to improve safety.

Estimated costs are $355,000 and Pasco is handling the project in house. Once work starts, the project should take about nine months to complete.
