New Group Brings Veterans Together for Food, Fellowship

Marine Forever also will be staunch supporters of military and community activities such as the Wounded Warrior Program and Toys for Tots, its founder says.

Once a Marine, Always a Marine, that's the motto. And a local veteran recently formed a group to bring those who served together to continue to serve.

The Marine Forever veterans group was founded by David Kirk, a Marine veteran and past commandant of the Marine Corps League of Tampa. The group builds upon the "Once a Marine, Always a Marine" slogan, Kirk wrote in an email.

"The new group was formed to give veterans living in the Central Pasco and Northern Hillsborough counties a venue for meeting to have fun, food, fellowship and inter-service camaraderie with special emphasis placed on promoting the heritage and traditions of the United States Marine Corps," Kirk said.

The group also will be staunch supporters of military and community activities such as the Wounded Warrior Project and Toys for Tots, according to Kirk.

Membership in the group is free to all honorably discharged Marines and Navy FMF Corpsmen.

Marine Forever also welcomes guests of members and all honorably discharged veterans from other branches of service to attend its meetings and events, Kirk said.

Meetings are held at 7 p.m. Mondays at Elsa's Mexican Restaurant, 18450 N. U.S. Highway 41
in Lutz.
