As the country heals in part by helping others, we hope these stories from across the country will inspire you as we mark the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

On the eleventh anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, people across the nation are honoring this Day of Remembrance in their communities and social networks, hosting , posting photos, sharing their thoughts and paying tribute to victims and first responders—many of whom gave their own lives that day.

In his Huffington Post blog, David Pain, president and cofounder of MyGoodDeed, writes:

"...On the 11th anniversary of 9/11, despite the years that have passed, the fact that bin Laden is dead, the 9/11 Memorial completed, and the Freedom Tower now many stories high, America is remembering. They are doing it in a remarkable way. By performing good deeds that help others."
