USF Hosts Free Events

The celebrations are a part of the school's annual USF Week.

Are you a currently USF student or alumni?

Lots of energy and excitement surround the University of South Florida this week as the university kicks off it's "USF Week 2013."

The USF Center for Student Involvement organizes the week, which includes numerous free events from concerts to sports. The USF Week is a way to honor alumni and traditions of the past along with new students and the future of the school, according to organizers.

In addition to the week of events student advisors will be collecting items to place in a time capsule.

"We hope that we do a good job and set it up well for future years, to continue to build upon these traditions," said staff advisor Jenna Kelly according to a media statement. Many of the events are free and open to the public.

Here's a list of events happening in Tampa:

THURSDAY

Rocky’s Rockin’ B-Day Bash

8:00 p.m. to midnight at the MLK West Lawn, 4202 E Fowler Ave., Tampa, Fla.

Rocky, the school's mascot, will celebrate his birthday with the help of a DJ. The school is invited to come dance and enjoy the photo area, lounge setup, candy bar, special effects and cake.

FRIDAY

Bullstock: Pre-Party

4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at The Meadows, USF Holly Drive and USF Sycamore Drive, Tampa, Fla.

A symbolic “burial” of the time capsule will occur among festivities including lining up for food trucks, winning giveaways, inflatables, and trying out the zip line.

Bullstock: Concert

6:00 p.m. start

Two stages will host five bands on either side of a giant screen, including Hot Chelle Rae, Owl City and All-American Rejects to close. Fireworks are set to close the evening.

SATURDAY

Grandparents Day at the Ball Field

Students are encouraged to bring their grandparents (and the rest of the family) to the USF Baseball and USF Softball games.

Spring Football Game

5:00 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium, 4201 N Dale Mabry Hwy. Tampa, Fla.

Bullrunner buses will not be transporting students to the stadium on this day.
