Beware: Zombies Ahead
Zombies are huge right now. But isn't that the way it's always been?
The horror industry never seems to have a lack of new ideas. Every few years, the genre adapts and molds to the next big thing. In the "Old Days", the standard Frakenstein, Dracula, Werewolf movies dominated the big screen. As time went on, we learned the names of Freddy, Jason and Michael. Movies like Saw, Hostel and Final Destiantion bought an element of personlization - bringing you, the viewer, on the edge of your seat. Eventually, the Blair Witch made an appearance (or didn't, technically), which lead the way to movies like Paranormal Activity.
One type of horror flick that hasn't and will never die... are zombies. I won't pretend to be an expert on zombies, but I can tell you they are really really popular. The TV show Walking Dead brought in 11+ million viewers to its season three premier, and it's on AMC - not one of the "big guys" of television. Zombies can be scary, creepy, funny, gross, etc... they love to eat brains, and you've got to admit they've got a do-or-die attitude about it. The truth is, while other types of horror shows and films come and go, zombies are here to stay. No matter what, people are drawn to the idea of zombies. Just look at the guy from Miami earlier this year. Bath Salts? That's not what everyone was hoping for. They wanted it to be a zombie plague.
This Halloween, beware. You're going to see more zombies than ever. Zombies are huge, and expect to see much more of them in the next few years as companies jump in on the fun.
