If a Snickers Salad sounds like an oxymoron to you, you are sooo right. In fact the label "salad" on this dish is a complete misnomer except for the fact that when you look at it, you totally think it's potato salad. So be careful.
I came across this recipe on Pinterest, and flashed back to a family get-together a few years ago. This was a dish that my Great-Aunt Gloria had made for us while she was visiting from Milwaukee! Now, I'm not a fan of Snickers, mostly because I'm not a fan of nuts in my chocolate in general. But I didn't have a problem eating them ensconced in Cool Whip, cream cheese, and powdered sugar. Don't worry, though, because it has apples, so it's healthy.
It's definitely best to make this for a crowd so that you can try it but you don't have to eat the whole thing. Not that I would do that. I made it for our Independence Day get-together as an impromptu side dish. I can't believe that was almost a month ago and the kids will be back in school in three weeks. Did somebody cancel summer this year? I think I missed it. But I digress.
The final analysis is this: I have no helpful tips for you whatsoever because this was so easy to make, even I couldn't mess it up. Although I almost forgot to thaw the Cool Whip. Actually I did forget to thaw one container so I used slightly less Cool Whip than the recipe called for. I know - it's a travesty.
Okay, Pinterest has taken care of my sweet tooth for the time being. Next time, I'll have to find something healthy to make. Or maybe a craft or useful household tip to implement that doesn't involve food. What? Something worthwhile that doesn't involve food? Heresy.
