Arrest Made in Weekend Crash on Interstate 275

A Lutz woman lost her leg as a result of the crash, officials say.

A Lutz woman was standing outside of her stranded vehicle on northbound Interstate 275, just south of Interstate 75, early Saturday morning when Florida Highway Patrol officials say she was struck by another motorist.

That motorist, troopers say, ended up disabled herself a few minutes later on the exit ramp leading to State Road 56 from I-75.

A Pasco County Sheriff’s deputy made contact with the driver of the car stranded on the exit ramp and notified troopers. When a trooper arrived at the scene, he noticed damage consistent with the earlier accident on I-275. The car was missing its right outside rearview mirror, had paint from the other vehicle and blood tissue and muscle from the victim on the right-hand door, an arrest report said.
