Brush Fire In Land O’ Lakes Is Contained

Multiple units responded to the blaze.

A brush fire that broke out around 5 p.m. today in a wooded area off State Road 54, just east of U.S. 41, is now contained, officials say.

Firefighters remained on the scene at 7:30 p.m., blocking one lane of eastbound traffic on State Road 54.

According to Land O’ Lakes Volunteer Fire Department Chief Gene Wright, the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Wright said few details about the fire are available at this time, but did say no one was injured and no homes were threatened. The wooded area is near the Winter Quarters RV resort and the Village on the Pond and Cypress Cove neighborhoods.

Multiple units from Pasco County Fire Rescue and the volunteer department were called out to battle the blaze that sent plumes of black smoke into the sky over Land O’ Lakes.
