Community Service Officer: 'Be Aware of Your Surroundings'

Homes were recently burglarized and an elderly woman was robbed in the Publix parking lot, according to Temple Terrace Police Community Service Officer Ken Stanton.

Community Service Officer Ken Stanton, of the Temple Terrace Police Department, emails Crime Updates to residents who have indicated that they want to receive the weekly reports. The crimes he featured in his latest update include:

Burglary Auto
Nov. 22, 3:30 p.m.
Arbor Isle Drive
A man entered an unlocked vehicle, and was confronted by the vehicle’s owner at which time he fled, Stanton said. Police later found the man and took him into custody.

Burglary Residence
Nov. 22, 6:40 p.m.
6700 block of Whiteway Drive
The homeowner came home and found an intruder in the home at which time the intruder fled, Stanton said.

Burglary Garage
Nov. 23, 4 p.m.
Raintree Area
A girl’s bike was taken from an open garage, Stanton said. A neighbor saw two men riding away on it.

Burglary Residential
Sometime between Nov. 21 and 25
Orange River
Someone entered the residence through a broken rear window, Stanton said.

Strong Armed Robbery/Battery on Elderly Person Over 65
Nov. 25, 7 p.m.
5450 E. Busch Blvd.
A man snatched a woman’s purse in the parking lot of Publix. The woman fell and hurt her foot. The man fled into the Brentwood Apartments.

Stanton ended the update with this piece of advice: “Be aware of your surroundings this holiday season.”
