UPDATE: Fatal Crash Closes I-75 Northbound in Pasco

Traffic is being diverted off at State Road 54.

Update (6:40 p.m.):

Interstate 75 was re-opened at 6:20 p.m. Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the fatal crash.

Motorists heading north on Interstate 75 this afternoon might want to get off a little early if their route takes them near the State Road 54 exit.

A fatal crash in Pasco County has forced the closing of the northbound lanes this afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

An adult woman was struck by a northbound vehicle near milepost 282 around 3:30 p.m. today, May 23, Sgt. Steve Gaskins wrote in an email to media. The woman died at the scene of the crash.

There were no other injuries reported and the pedestrian’s name hasn’t been released at this time. Gaskins said the northbound lanes may be closed until 6 p.m.

Northbound drivers are being diverted off the interstate at State Road 54.
