Florida’s Bus Bandit Strikes Again, Cops Say

Buses are big, yellow and really hard to miss, making them an unlikely target for a thief.

But, authorities say that’s not the case in the Florida Panhandle city of Parker where not one, but two buses have been stolen in recent weeks. Police, however, say they know who the culprit is: a 12-year-old boy they accuse of having a penchant for stealing buses.

Police say the boy took a bus from Bay District Schools back in June, going on a joyride that made headlines. He was placed on a 21-day hold by the Department of Juvenile Justice and was released Tuesday, WJHG.com is reporting.

Early this morning, a Parker Elementary School bus was swiped.

"We learned through Springfield Police Department that a juvenile had stolen a car in their city and had apparently driven it to the area of Parker Schools," Parker Police Chief Charles Sweat told the station.

It seems the car that was stolen belonged to one of the boy’s family members, leading officials to believe the child was at it again.

Deputies stopped the boy and the bus in Franklin County, more than 75 miles from where it had been stolen.

The boy is being charged with grand theft auto, burglary of a conveyance and trespassing on school property, according to the Huffington Post. Back in June, he was charged with grand theft of an item worth more than $100,000.
