Man Arrested after Dumping Stolen Bike in Pond

He was charged with dealing in stolen property and violation of felony probation.

A Land O' Lakes resident got a bicycle back and another resident went to jail after deputies recovered the bike in a pond.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, while investigating a Jan. 9 burglary at a residence on Seven Rivers Circle, Joshua James Pierson was identified as a possible suspect after he was observed disposing of a bike in a nearby pond.

In a non-custodial interview, Pierson, 20, denied involvement in the burglary but did say he took possession of the bike knowing it was stolen. He also admitted to disposing of the bicycle, valued at $130, in the pond, according to an arrest report.

Pierson was found to be on felony probation for burglary at the time of his arrest on Jan. 10. He was charged with dealing in stolen property and violation of probation. 

Pierson of 25402 Seven Rivers Circle remained in the Land O' Lakes jail Friday in lieu of $10,000 bond.
