Man Falsely Reported Wife Pulled Gun on Him, Authorities Say

A 35-year-old Land O' Lakes resident was arrested by Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

A Land O’ Lakes man called 911 to report that his wife had pulled a gun on him and was hitting him.

The problem, authorities say, is that it was untrue.

Richard Neil Wallace, 35, of Merseyside Loop, was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 13 and charged with making a false report of a commission of a crime. Wallace was taken to Land O’ Lakes Jail and later released on $150 bond.

According to a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office report, Wallace told the 911 operator about the alleged crime and then disconnected. Authorities tried to call back multiple but received voicemail.

Responding deputies found no gun. Although there was a domestic dispute, there was no physical contact and Wallace told deputies he lied about the gun to “scare” his wife, the report stated.
