Pasco Detective Recognized for Nabbing ‘Serial Bank Robbers’

Bank robbers eyeing Pasco County might want to think twice about doing the crime with Detective Matthew Myers on the job.

Myers, who works in the sheriff’s office’s major crimes unit, was recently honored by the Financial Institutions Security Officers Association for his success in closing cases in 2011.

According to the sheriff’s office Facebook page, Myers’ work led to the arrest of three serial bank robbers in Pasco during 2011. Two suspects were wanted in cases that spanned multiple counties. The three suspects combined were connected to a total of 11 robberies in the Bay area.

“Det. Myers works closely with his fellow Pasco Sheriff’s Office detectives, as well as the law enforcement officers in local city police departments, county sheriff’s offices, and the FBI to track down these bank robbery suspects,” the Facebook page says. “Congratulations for a job well done!”
