Police Chief to Oversee County Road Patrol Bureau

Jeffrey Harrington will head up the Pasco County Sheriff's Office Patrol Operations Bureau.

The New Port Richey police chief has been selected to oversee the Pasco County Sheriff's Office Patrol Operations Bureau, which oversees road patrols.

Sheriff Chris Nocco announced the appointment of Jeffrey Harrington on Monday. The move will be effective Oct. 17, and Harrington will be a major. Harrington said he is accepting the new job. His last day at the department will be Oct. 15.

Maurice Radford, the former Pasco patrol bureau head, retired last month. He earned an annual salary of $108,622.

"Jeff is a leader and an innovator, he has a servant heart and he will play a key role in helping our agency transition to intelligence-led policing," Nocco said.

Harrington, who worked as a detective at the department for a long time and then supervised detectives, has 20 years of law enforcement and corrections experience and has been police chief since Aug. 4, 2010. He succeeded chief Martin Rickus. He has bachelor's and master's degrees from Norwich University and a Ph.D. in organizations and management from Capella University.
