Student Arrested at School Faces Felony Weapon Charge

The 16-year-old was arrested at Land O' Lakes High on Thursday for having a knife in his pocket.

A Land O' Lakes High student was arrested Thursday and charged with a third degree felony for bringing a knife to school.

According to a Pasco County complaint affidavit, the 16-year-old junior was approached by school personnel for a reasonable suspicion search.

In a "spontaneous statement," the teen admitted to having the folding knife with a serrated locking blade in his shorts pocket. According to the report, he told authorities that he sleeps with the knife in his pocket and forgot to remove it.

The teen, whose name is being withheld by Patch because of his age, was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon on school campus.

He was transported to the county's Juvenile Assessment Center without incident.
