Land O' Lakes Instructional Layoffs By School

Connerton Elementary School lost the most positions locally.

When the Pasco County school district handed out, Land O’ Lakes campuses did not come out unscathed.

Here is a listing of instructional position layoffs by school provided by the district. Numbers for school related personnel and administrators will be available at a later date, said Summer Romagnoli, the district’s spokeswoman.

  • Connerton Elementary School, 9300 Flourish Dr. - This was the hardest hit school in Land O’ Lakes with layoffs of a media specialist, a physical education teacher, a behavior specialist, five elementary education teachers and two teachers of varying exceptionalities. All but the media specialist and physical education teacher were on temporary service contracts. Teachers of varying exceptionalities work with children who have special needs.
  • Denham Oaks Elementary, 1422 Oak Grove Blvd. – This school had no instructional layoffs.
  • Lake Myrtle, 22844 Weeks Blvd. – One art teacher on an annual contract was affected.
  • Oakstead Elementary, 19925 Lake Patience Rd. – This school lost three elementary education teachers who were on temporary service contracts.
  • Pine View Elementary, 5333 Parkway Blvd. – This school lost three elementary education teachers who were on temporary contracts.
  • Charles S. Rushe Middle, 18654 Mentmore Blvd. – Rushe’s faculty cuts include a math, two reading and three teachers of varying exceptionalities. All were on temporary contracts.
  • Pine View Middle, 5334 Parkway Blvd. – A teacher of gifted children and a teacher of varying exceptionalities, both on temporary contracts, were laid off.
  • Land O’ Lakes High School, 20325 Gator Ln. – The layoffs here included three teachers - science, social studies and varying exceptionalities. All three were on temporary contracts. The high school also lost a technology specialist who was on an annual contract.
  • Sunlake High School, 3023 Sunlake Blvd. – Sunlake High School lost four positions. A language arts, reading, science and a graduate enhancement teacher were laid off. All four were on temporary service contracts.
