Pasco Offers $400k in Help for Homebuyers

Pasco County has released $400,000 to help residents with their down payments.

Land O' Lakes residents who want to live out the American Dream, but keep coming up short in the down payment department might have a place to turn.

Pasco County has announced that it released $400,000 on March 1 to help residents countywide with down payment assistance. The money comes from the State Housing Initiatives Partnership, or SHIP program for short. It enables the county to award $5,000 to $10,000 loans with no interest attached that qualifying residents can use for down payments on home purchases, according to the county's website.

Pasco County has a number of programs in place designed to help would-be homebuyers realize their dreams. The loans are available to applicants whose income is considered “very low” to “moderate.” For a family of four, the low end is an income of $28,400 to qualify. The size of the loan is based on income level.
