Hull began working for Pasco County in 2004 as a teacher at Bayonet Point Middle School. She worked at Dr. John Long Middle School before being promoted to assistant principal at Rushe in 2010. She has a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s in educational leadership. Hull is certified in middle grades English and educational leadership.

Hull’s appointment is effective July 18.

School board members also made two district level appointments during Tuesday’s meeting.

Thomas Barker Jr., the current principal at Shady Hills Elementary School, was named as the new executive director of elementary schools. The appointment is effective July 5. Barker has worked for the Pasco school district since 1995. He began as a classroom teacher at Shady Hills elementary before going on to Anclote Elementary. He became an assistant principal in 1999 and has worked in administration ever since.

Barker has a bachelor’s degree in special education and a master’s in educational leadership.

Elizabeth Brown, the current principal at Dr. John Long Middle School, was named the director of secondary schools effective July 5. She began her career with the district in 1991, working as a social studies teacher at Thomas E. Weightman Middle School. She was promoted to assistant principal at Wesley Chapel High School in 1999 and has worked in administration ever since.

Brown holds a bachelor’s degree in social science education and a master’s in educational leadership.

According to district spokeswoman Summer Romagnoli, Barker’s position as executive director for elementary schools is not a new position.

“It has been vacant since Dave Scanga was promoted to assistant superintendent,” she wrote in an email. Scanga’s promotion came about three years ago.

Brown’s position, however, is a new one, but it replaces the assistant superintendent for high schools. That position was vacated in January, Romagnoli said.

“The board agreed to keep the assistant superintendent position vacant and create a less expensive executive director position,” she wrote.
