With rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches
throughout Pasco on Thursday and more storms expected today, Aug. 23, Pasco
County officials are taking no chances when it comes to weather.
In advance of this afternoon’s anticipated storms, the county has announced that it has sandbags available for residents. The National Weather Service’s Ruskin office has issued a flood watch for all of Pasco County for Friday afternoon and into the evening hours.
A flood watch means that flooding is possible within an area in the next 24 to 36 hours.
Thursday’s rains pummeled the county with widespread reports of localized street flooding logged. In the Dade City area, a washout opened a depression in Jessamine Road, forcing a closing.
Sandbags are available at three locations in Pasco:
- Pasco County Public Works Complex, 7530 State St., New Port Richey
- Land O’
Lakes Recreation Complex, 3032 Collier Parkway, Land O’ Lakes
C- Barn, 3908 Warder Road., San Antonio
In order to get sandbags, Pasco residents need to bring their own shovels. They’re limited to 25 bags each.
