'I Want to Go Somewhere Different for Mother's Day!'

Mom wants to go out to eat on Mother's Day? Try something a bit different.

Mother's Day tomorrow and the wife wants to go to a "good" restaurant for it. :>(

This can be a challenge since the "good" ones are miles apart and usually jammed up with people on the holidays.

But, I have a couple of good places to offer which can be nice change and likely, not crowded!

On Fletcher at 15th st in Tampa, you will find 2 feuding Chinese Restaurants. The Ho Ho Choy  and Chopsticks.

Years ago, these 2 brothers opened 1 restaurant together, had a fight so big that they split up and decided to compete.

This worked out to be great for the local foodies!

I'm a big fan of Dim Sum (Chinese tea pastries) and Ho Ho Choy is the winner there. If this is something you enjoy, give them a shot. They have a new Sushi and Sushimi bar as well.

Now, if it's a lobster she wants, try Chopsticks.  A whole lobster dinner prepared seven different ways for only $21! Nice meal at either place, so both are offered as a mom's day alternative.

Next is a new Tampa seafood joint called Captain Just's Crabhouse on 50th Street across from the Yingling Beer Distributor.

They are still working on the recipies, but they do try hard to please and it's the only local crab house worth trying, honestly.

Both garlic and Old Bay steamed styles are presented for blue crabs, plus great oyster plates, and Gulf shrimp platters, too.

Try 'em when down that way. Again, still a work in progress, but better than you can find here in LOL!

Enjoy your day wherever you decide to eat, all of you Moms out there!   :>)

Thanks for the tips, Mr. Martin. The crabhouse sounds like it's worth a try for sure!

;>) We go for the Md. Style Blue Crabs when we go.
So I call ahead to reserve the largest males. (Just a tip, they get their crabs in on Wed, and it's all you can eat for 25.00. It's a pretty good deal if you have the appetite.!)

The Chinese was as expected. Good portions for the price and easy in and out. Food was consistent, and we were happy. So, good. Went back to the Captain Just Crab House and was pleasantly surprised with the largest crabs of the season. Seriously, give me a few more visits and I will have them steaming crabs like they lived on the Chesapeake Bay all they're lives! Loved it.

Well damn, there goes another promising spot to eat in Tampa.
They tried for 6 months then gave up and sold it with little to no warning. Oh well, that's par for the course here I guess. Thanks for trying Captain Just's Crab House, R.I.P.
